Please Hang On

How very callous you make me feel
Like being caught alive amongst the dead
In a soulless pile of inhumanity
Unreactive to life around us
How dull each day awakes
To feelings that make me numb
So color-blind to life’s beauty
Impassive to a creative mind
Like skin that’s turned to stone
Rocky and jaded hard
Listen like a tin-eared robot
A squelch almost inhumane
Hear a voice that says,
“You’re call is important to us.
Please hang on and a representative
Will be with you shortly”

no doubt yankee, more and more people seem missing in human service jobs or positions... the lack of human presence over a period of time may just be what brings that presence back again, yet, it may be awhile
