Prayers Unaswered

Where were you
When I needed love
Left castaway
On rocky shores
Shipwrecked hope
On barren slopes
Too tired to climb
Too cold to care

Where were you
On troubled paths
When fear became
In my way
Splendid colors
Mottled grey
My living soul
Turned into clay

Where were you
A child's bride
When life became
A thorn in my side
And in shame
Just want to die
Drowning in a
Drunkard's cry

Where were you
Away from me
When all was lost
My feelings shook
Like a ship be tossed
Round a violent sea
Less a life be cost
No one left to bail

Where were you
When one last shout
With one more cough
Now forever gone
A flame gone out
Even a sunrise
On a summer day
Would never doubt
What I say
