Something's missing?!

The sight of beauty such excites desire,
Who could refrain from feeling real delight?!
Here’s beauty in a flesh that one admires,
It’s something from the Heavens given once.

One look and you cannot avert your eyes,
It’s magnet that attracts, a sweet delusion.
You’re stupefied, emotions hard to hide,
You’re lost, your smile reveals confusion.

Where beauty walks around her all are stunned,
It must be hard to stand the hungry stare
Of men in raptures, women losing heart,
She dreams of time to be of all this spared.

Such beauty, don’t you think, deserves a rest,
A time out, little peace, another chance?!

About this poem:
After reading the article attached: living in spotlight may be disturbing, and in a fabulous career (maybe too fabulous) and glamorous life (maybe too glamorous) there must be something important missing… Thank you, dear poets.

I don't know why people say that beauty is only skin deep, when much the same can be said of ugliness - a point seldom addressed by many people.

Beauty of the spirit of course, is entirely another matter, as that kind of beauty stays with a person for ever.

A thought provoking write.

Kindest regards

Hi, marikia,
People are complex beings and, as we know, all is not what appears on the surface. It’s magnet that attracts, a sweet delusion… We are so consumed with devouring the lives of others and rarely consider the impact our appetite has on the one who has to stand the hungry stare. Something's missing?! Most definitely. Precisely what, however, we may never know. Thank you for sharing this poetic write that looks for answers to some important questions.

Something's missing - definitely - this is exactly my point, hence the question and exclamation marks- ?!. Haven't seen a person happy, contented to the full - there's always something missing and the gap is never filled. As Bill noted,"Beauty of the spirit ... stays with a person for ever," hidden in deep recesses, I would add, invisible for a layman, but does it matter as long as it is there for making others happy?! Maybe the secret to happiness is in the act of making other people happy, which is quite an accomplishment!?
Dear ladies and gentlemen, many thanks for your interesting comments!bouquet hug

Marikia...there's so many things missing...life has become a joke...it's all about making appearances...we try and hold everything together in the end...pretending we're okay when we are not... so sad..but when we try to be in control and things get out of control...we have no one to hand it over to...and we just want to vanish from everyone...I suppose its one thing Christianity has to offer...the chance to hand things over to God... Thank you so much...bouquet sad flower

Wise comment, very close to my point. It's all about pretenses, exactly, that is why one needs a rest, time out, "vanishing from everyone." And you are right about faith - it gives us a sense of security and direction in life - things most important. Thank you for clarifying my point, orientalcoru. Kindest regards!bouquet

There will always be some-thing missing if we believe some-thing is better than some-thing else.
Well written!

Sad so sad sad flower Yes it does appear there was something missing important for her. Sometimes a person can be well put together on the outside yet the inside is in such a state of disrepair. I have heard it described as hiding behind ones beauty. I wish her much peace now blues
