'What is a poet'
Author: Unknown
'Hah you'll never be anything, all day with your nose in a book,
This constant insult now nothing more than drivel.
I learnt to string words together in a sentence or two,
With the soon discovered arrival of punctuation to help me explain my situation.
First a line,then who would've believed it 'a verse',
All together to my amusement making my tormentors life much worse.
Instead of shouting or futilely hitting him back,
I would throw a limerick or an even wiser crack!!
A knowing smile, then a word cast adds to the pace,
Sheer bliss as confusion crosses my enemy's face.
And as for being nothing,I would happily disagree,
For finding this tapestry is the making of me.
So if you should chance to read a book,
I implore, pay it more than a cursory look.
Follow the dance of each word, line and verse.
Learning the Art of the poet, you could do far worse.!!

About this poem:
This is a bit of fun with words, see not all dark poetry lol.
I used the magic of forming poetry to confuse those who bullied, the worst being my father. But to watch his face contort in his unwillingness to admit defeat was a real treat for me.
Nothing quite like that smugness being replaced by the vacant expression of the lights on but nobody home!!
