Canoeing on New Year 's day (2010)

On a sunny day, clear sky,
I took my
canoe to Salina Bay.
Freezing Europe was far away,
hearing unstoppable clinching teeth.
My life-jacket on, I paddled on.
The sea was a bit breezy,wind S.W.
refreshing, not cold.

Like a gandola, I crossed, into a
canal,full of bamboo sticks.
I was smiling.
Birds flew, teasing me, to fly.
But I waved, my paddle rotating, wet.
Pushing forward, I tilted my boat,
showing off, the sea-gulls laughted.

I stopped, unwinding my tense muscles,
looked at blue horizon.
I was lucky canoeing, alone, happy,
on a New Year's day.
After half-a-hour, I gradually paddled
back to base.

Untired, I pulled my boat on shore.
washed my sea-weed feet.
I tied my canoe on car, and
drove home.
Tasting, licking my salty lips,
smiling.

About this poem:
On New year 's Day, lucky, as it was sunny, I went canoeing. Instead of going out, with friends, for lunch, I choose sea-canoeing.
The sea is fantastic, never alone, breathing, wind, birds, sea-gulls...no boats, or nosiy jet-skies.
I was very happy, sun-bathing,in a warm sunny New Year's day, & dreaming,as if i was an explorer, sailing into the unknown.
