If love was hiding in a bowl of cherries Sweet and enticing, not like un-ripened berries Could you pick it out, choose the one Or would you fumble, unsure of some
How do you know where it could be? If they were all plucked from a single tree Would it be the one hiding, seeming shy? Or the cherry that simply took your eye
Does hesitation make you unsure? That love could hide if it was pure Why wait, why not pick the fruit What if its wrong, does not suit
Why choose, why not sample them all Would you become the vain mans fool What is the thought that holds you back? You cannot sight feelings lying in the pack
Indecision will make it pass you on by If the one that’s right you will not espy Your heart, not eyes, will leave one in the bowl For it is the one that shines, a radiant soul
For the answer is not the beauty of the skin The outside tells you nothing of what lies within True love can seem to hide in a single cherry But beware, for the fruits of life are many

About this poem:
true, real love is sometimes hard to find!, for it can disguise itself!
This caught my eye while I was talking about apples.. It is very very good. Very true also. Thank you.

Great poem and so true. Looking at the outside, how will we know. The hesitation, at times, can become unbarable, great stuff.

OMG this is , "AMAZING!"
So true we are held back by fear. As once said, "One spoiled apple ruined the entire bunch!" For us that are genuine in who we are and the love we are so willing to share, we are not given a fair chance. It's hard to let down the walls of defense and take another chance to find love. Very hard when we have been hurt deeply in the past. Even though sometimes broken in appearance, the sweetness of love still resides within.
Excellent points Rob. This may sound silly, but I wonder if looking at the pitts would help. No probably not I've seen the pitts and not pretty...hey but love isn't defined by beauty....Now I'm really Confusssed!!!lol
very nice write. so true. what it is that one fancies? can it be that one never knows til that day, until that time. then, spring certainly is eternal.
Loved your poem Rob, it covers all aspects of a difficult, illusive subject. Thank you.

Such wise words, Rob, I think the problem comes, when it is automatic, when it comes to outer beauty, and physical attraction. But, on the other hand, it takes much time invested to get to the center of a tootsie pop!! Being that we are a give it to me now society of people..who dont think we have time, well then often we lose out ,for instant gratification!! Loved the poem!! thanx for posting..JG

Its awesome, amazing,so wonderfully portrayed,oh! Rob you are so good,I loved reading it and re-reading it.Yes outward appearances can be deceptive, its the inner being that counts.Appearances catch the eyes but beauty from within will capture the heart.Good luck to you Rob.
Rob well done I loved your poem. It's something that needed to be said. A radiant sould is truely something to discern and I thank you for reminding me of that.

well said rob,i couldn't have said it any better,i guess we can be too picky when it comes to finding a date,we look at perfection, not whats in the persons heart,so we then choose to be lonely and miserable,i guess i'm guilty of this too!it's what society teaches us,what a shame!!...great poem, and keep writting.

I do love your poem rob it's brilliant. The ex said to me that it's not often someone gets a second pick at the cherries. What if the tables are turned though. A good Cherry can be battered and bruised then left alone to go rotten. Nobody ever wants the rotten ones, put back in the bowl and damaged so not so sweet. Well except another worm ey??
Beautiful poem, rob, honest ^_^
