Just yesterday…

Just yesterday, we were soaring like eagles,
Today, we lie dazed on the ground, a shaft through our hearts.
Just yesterday, the world looked so bright and beautiful,
Today, a drab greyness shrouds our hearts.

Just yesterday, we held hands so meaningfully,
Today, we sit across the table from each other, two strangers with nothing to say.
Just yesterday, we looked in each other’s eyes and saw paradise,
Today, our eyes reflect vapidity, blandness and hollowness.

Just yesterday, our smiles turned winters into sparkling springs,
Today, the smiles have been replaced by tears of despair.
Just yesterday, our lips trembled with new-born passion,
Today, they are blue, lifeless and lonely.

Just yesterday, our voices were as melodious as the sound of a gentle brook,
Today, they are raspy and parched and cracked and dry as a desert bed.
Just yesterday, we respected each other, like the knights of the round table,
Today, our names are dreaded whispers, dragging us down to the abyss.

Just yesterday, the thought of each other nourished our souls,
Today, the thoughts are harbingers of pure unadulterated pain.
Just yesterday, I was alive,
Today, I’m dead.
How are you, my once-sweet and darling lover-friend?

The question of the ages, isn't it? No easy answer..., either we're not ready to commit to that individual, or, we want a change, who knows?

ah, there is no brightness here, as these words bring back a very painful memory to me. you do have a way of bringing your readers emotions up and down. was going to say something clever about searching your back catalogue - but it fell out of my head with this. a true poem like art stirs the observers emotions, its a true one.blues

Sometimes people just stay on the wrong bus to long blues Your words penned the death of once loved well my friend. I prefer to not ever feel like that. I tasted that fruit once and it did not leave a good taste sad flower

You're sooo right dear Happygolucky4u, this was a long time ago, and she still is my last true love..., sigh..., but then again, I kind of 'oh-hold' right now, working on some other aspects of my life, and I'm pretty sure that 'true-love' will pay me a visit again, hope to be readier next time..., lol...

Limited and as individual as we mortals are, I don't suppose that enlightenment is ever truly found, or if a taste were found, most impossible to share with any other. Inisled as we all are, dotted about a great pool, the shifting winds may bring occasional word of others but the great wall of separation shan't allow merging spirit. Or some such rot...I like very much your write and now I'm going over to read your latest. Have a wonderful summer old friend.
