Daddy Come Home

Embedded image from another site

Daddy you have gone,
Left mamma and me all alone.
You went across a mighty sea,
With all your company.
Daddy I do pray for you,
That you shall all come through.
In safety to come home,
We Love you Daddy we feel alone.

Together shall we watch the eagle fly?
Shall It make lazy circles In the sky?
You told me as long as the eagle does fly high,
Our America shall never die.

Daddy you walked so sadly away,
I did cry when you could not see.
You went off to fight for liberty,
So that people they could be free.
Oh daddy I'm crying once again,
I promise to stop but only when.
You come walking through our front door,
My heart shall return forever more.

Together shall we watch the eagle fly?
Shall It make lazy circles In the sky?
You told me as long as the eagle does fly high,
Our America shall never die.

Daddy I am so proud of you,
You're so brave to do what you do.
Fight so bravely to the stars and stripes be true,
All come back my daddy especially you.
Daddy all I ask Is that you be a soldier brave,
Please don't stay In some strange land within a grave.
Come home soon to mamma and me,
Once you give these strangers liberty.

Together shall we watch the eagle fly?
Shall It make lazy circles In the sky?
You told me as long as the eagle does fly high,
Our America shall never die.

With the stars and stripes to lead you on,
May your hearts be staunch and strong.
Marching ever onward strong and proud,
The country behind you one heart beating loud.
Our hopes are with you every single day,
All you brave soldiers straight Into the fray.
Onward ever onward no retreat,
Sons and daughters of the eagle come back with victory or defeat

Come home soon all of you, especially you daddy.
I Love you.
Mamma sends her Love too.
Bye Daddy.

Hi SCatlyn, thanks for dropping by and the comment. I'm like most people, I don't like war. I do think those fighting one sometimes get a raw deal. I just thought of showing It from a soldier's child's point of view. The families of soldiers suffer also, as do many of the soldiers overseas. They are human also. War changes every soldier, everyone, vanquished and victorious loses. Sometimes they are just boys and girls In age but the job they do, they are men and women In my book. Who are the guilty? those who make the wars soldiers have to fight. The list Is endless.
Have a good day. Catch you later. Your Friend always....MIKE.

Hi Jade, I do understand your feelings on war. Having lost people In war you shall find It distressing. You will know what many families go through when their Loved ones are overseas. The one thing I would never do Is turn my back on a soldier. They have my respect. War can drain the humanity out of people. Soldiers cry tears we never see. Their families cry tears as well.
Have a good day. Catch you later. Your Friend always....MIKE.

Hi Mustapha, thanks for dropping by and the comment. I had a couple of friends once who were In the army. Both got hurt and I can't quite remember where It was. That's how I know that soldiers lose a little of themselves. You know, they do try to help civilians. They are walking down the street, the enemy on the corner. A woman walks out her door. The enemy come round the corner. His first thought was to push the woman In her door and he took the bullet. He got a roasting for that one. He was always good people even as a soldier. He changed In one respect, he didn't trust people the way he used to. Like I said, everyone changes In some way. Glad you liked It my friend.
Have a good day, Catch you later. Your Friend always....MIKE.

Hi Liam, thanks for dropping by and the comment. I just wanted to show that soldiers and there families also suffer In war conditions. Sometimes they think they are fighting for one reason and suddenly find out It Is about something else. Most of the time their families think the same. They are fighting to save people, then suddenly governments say , first go for the oil wells. So I blame the war mongers and the politicians, not the soldiers. Soldiers cry my friend, so do their families. Glad you enjoyed this one.
Have a good day Catch you later. Your Friend....MIKE.

Hi there, thanks for dropping by and the comment. For once I thought I would take the subject of soldiers and wars from another angle, from the angle of a child who's father Is off too war. What do these children want, they want there mothers and fathers to come back home. What soldier would not cry tears reading his child's Love.
Have a good day. Catch you later. Your Friend always....MIKE.

Hi Paloma, thanks for dropping by and the comment, much appreciated. I was just out to look at war from a different way. We will never know the agonies suffered by soldier's families, We will never know the terrors of being In a fire fight. One day the madness may end, but many people will have to be willing to compromise and change. Wouldn't that be Lovely, a world where we can live In peace and harmony. Well, we can dream, some dreams do come true.
Have a good day. Catch you later. Your Friend always....MIKE.

Hi Mike

I read this earlier today, it really is a terrific poem - I have to admit I was slightly thrown by you choosing to write through American eyes, I sort of had you figured as an Argyle and Sutherland or Gordon Highlanders man.

Joking apart, a really fine write.

Best wishes

Hi Mick, yes so many sorrows for so many people. I have no Idea how war can still be a part of our lives. The 21st century and we still have military having to fight and die, we still have Innocents dying, those who can't defend themselves. Will our lives ever change? Will there ever be a world of peace that we all crave for? I'm ever the optimist but on this one I ever have to say no. Really optimistic, right? A Friend of mine In the military once said to me, "Soldiers cry."
Have a good day. Catch you later. Your Friend always....MIKE.

Hi Bill, thanks for dropping by and the comment. Your actually right on the battalions. We could have added the black watch In there. I chose Americans because a cousin of mine was Involved with an American soldier. He told me once that wee Davy had sent him a letter asking him to be brave, fight well and come home safe. That stuck In my head. He Is the one who said, "Soldiers do cry." That's actually why I made It American military. What a strange world we live In Bill. Can here ever be a true peace?
Have a good day. Catch you later. Your Friend always....MIKE.

Hi Laura, thanks for dropping by and the comment. The soldiers always seem to get the comeback when there Is a war. We should look towards the true war mongers. The soldiers cry, the soldiers die. You know I wanted to be a soldier once, I got as far as the recruitment office. The Sarge In charge there wanted me but due to the way I am It was a no no. So I didn't become a soldier. I'm me, I couldn't Intentionally hurt anyone. They should all be home and safe.
Have a good day. Catch you later. Your Friend always....MIKE.

Hi Ken, thanks for dropping by and the comment. I am still on cyst and migraine season, so I'm not commenting that much at the moment. I had to comment on your newest write there. Sometimes people come down hard on the military, hate would be a good word. We would have to think, If they weren't there we might have to do their job. Could we? There families can be ostrisized by others. I've got Into many an argument on this point. To me, any woman and man who does the job they do should have respect. Of course the people want their military home. No one wants to think of their soldiers dying for a cause that can't be won. Once this heat disperses I'll get back to normal.
Have a good day. Catch you later. Your Friend always....MIKE.
