Questions

There’s no god, it’s all a lie, just stories to tell your children.
All my life I’ve lived this way, the way where god’s not present.
I suppose I’ve sinned, so many times, if you go by that religious credo.
Now my time the end it nears, there are questions that need answers.
What if I’ve been wrong, and they are right, heaven and hell exists.
These questions through my mind they run, as seconds turn to minutes.
All too quickly these minutes add up, as my remainder is counted in hours.

Everyone has a right to their opinion, but I will never stop believing. At times my faith has been shaken and I felt abandonedby God. The truth is without my faith, I would have known that the Lord was by my side helping me through those tough times. "Footprints" is one of my favorite religious poems.

I'm new to this site, and just found out there even was a section for poems. Then I read yours. I don't know your age or life story, but that really doesn't matter, and I don't have any magic words that will convince you if you have chosen not to believe in God. In fact you probably won't even bother to read all this, and that is your choice because that is one of the gifts that God gave man when he was created. I can only tell you my short story and why and how I know that God is real. I grew up in a Christian home thanks to my mother. My father was a preacher, unfortunately he wasn't the man out of the pulpit that he claimed to be while in it. They divorced when I turned six and started school.
After I became a teen I turned my back on all that I had been taught, and went out into the world to do what I wanted. I thought I was happy, enjoying life, was married with kids, and pretty much did what I wanted. Then quite by accident a situation caused me to confront myself, my life, and all "those" questions we don't have answers to. I can only tell you that I fell to my knees and ask God's forgiveness and guidance in my life. From that moment a calmness came over me that in all honesty I could not describe if my life depended on it. The fear of death was gone, and I started getting the answers that I needed to know about "those questions" we all have. God, heaven and hell are all very real. I hope you will take the moment, and find that private quite corner where you can kneel and humble yourself before God and let Him show you how real He is. You will never regret it. Besides to quote your own words, how could it matter?
