Volcano

Dull the gray wash
Is swept clean
Flung out a fiery hearth
Washed into a restless sea
Into the cracked
Craggy coast of earth
Where laughing gulls
Cry in fear or hunger
Swoop in crooked flight
Stare at a vacant shore
Lifeless as a dessert
Covered in smoking ash
Waiting no more

Yankee...The subject matter speaks of lifeless, vacant shore...yet from this, in time, new life grows, beginning the age old cycle as destruction clears the path and life grabs a foothold.....Avias :: happy place
