Where is love that’s washed ashore The one I search... still looking for On lonely walks past breakers waves My heart awash with all it craves Where is love that’s taken flight Towards the sun and out of sight Only a promise knows its name A secret most guarded all the same Where is love that lures me away Searching to find out where it lay Have I travelled too far and wide Time will forever bury and hide Where is love that’s washed ashore The one I search... still looking for

About this poem:
The poem depicts a person walking down a beach filled with uncertainty searching for any clues about the direction and discovery of love.
I only walked on a beach once, when I was down in Florida at Daytona Beach. I wouldn't walk out more than ankle depth for fear of being eaten by a shark.
LOVE...We can search but still not find it....and so, why bemoan the time spent searching...should we not LIVE life with all we have? The experience of living can include the search but is the search for LOVE the ultimate goal? Hidden among all the symbols of romance lies LOVE of the real kind...when we open our hearts to each other.
macradloff, trust me, you chances of being eaten alive by a massive pitt bull walking past some drug infested neighborhood in any big city are much higher......
Lindsy, Thanks..glad you like my Easter photo...... searching for anything can be frustrating for sure and like avian has said......just learn to be content with life and feel happiness and love will find you is sound advice. Here in the big valley the snow has largely melted and the ice has given way out on our Lake.....we are having a gradual thaw so there's bee no major flooding as the snowpack in the mountains melts and comes down. There's still plenty of snow in the mountains.....
Godsprincess..... It wasn't meant to be sad......just deeply reflective.....and I completely agree we all should Love the Lord our God with all our hearts and all our minds,,,the first and great commandment!!

Hi Yankee
I think we can all relate to your thoughts in this beautiful write
Martina, It is where I am at..... I can't wait forever because forever is a long time.....lol I love to drive down to the coast of Maine.... and walk along the shoreline.....just mesmerizing and drifting barefoot over the sand....and through the cold atlantic waters....staring far out to sea......perhaps yearning to know where I came from......or perhaps where I need to go.....back to sea......over the sea....
The north Atlantic shoreline is really impressive compared to the tranquil ocean waves of Miami. Perfect place to meditate, relax and release all your thoughts to wonder. I am kind of far from the beach now, used to be only five minutes away.... As most of us look for love here, searching is like a journey; surprises to uncover but for sure God knows who is in your destiny... Remember the waves always washes away but returns back every time. Lovely poem.
Southmiami, Wow...I like that....The waves always washes away but returns back.......you"re right!! I totally feel a spiritual connection to my soul mate.....now at this stage in my life. The searching is still necessary from a physical perspective, but somehow in some 6th sense kind of way, I already feel a very strong connection.

Yes! Me too. Think about the treasures washed ashore and left behind with each wave... Sooner or later we will find the treasure we seek
good one.. I hope in 3-5 years from now i still think love exists

Generally if one stops searching so hard for love and start being the love you seek it will find you. The failure in seeking outside of ourselves instead of seeking from within in the hopes that someone will just come up and say I love you I'll be your friend does not happen with a wave of a magic wand. We can complain for a life time why we cannot find the perfect love. If we cannot love our imperfections as well as our good attributes it cannot be real love. If many set up an unrealistic criteria or ideal conditions of love, for love, how practical is that. We can write multitudes of poems and stories of our personal vision of what love should be. Yet, if we could offer the same beauty to the people of our affection there would be no reason why we are alone and complaining about the love we seek.
