My Best Friend

I look into those wonderful brown eyes of yours.
I don't think anyone could love me anymore.
It is hard on me to see what you are going thru.
And soon I know what I might have to do.
You have been there for me
A friend who ask nothing in return.
Sometimes just sitting together
Letting life be.
I will miss you more than you will ever know
I have watched you grow.
You protect me when you think harm comes my way
I can't protect you back because old age is here to stay.
So lets sit and watch the sun go down.
And remember when you were just a pup and run around.

I'm so sorry love. I had a little friend for fifteen years and will never forget how loyal and loving she was. I nursed her many a time and some how she came through and I still believe it was sheer loyalty and love kept us together much longer than I expected, but was truly grateful for. I then thought wow she's going to live forever but sadly we parted. I believe I will see her again with my Grandma and her dog. Beautiful poetry for a beautiful friend.

Thank you neverendingstory and gnj4u, Bear and I have been together thirteen years. He has been ill the last three years. I had them take him off his medicine six months ago the side effects had gotten so bad. Now I can see how tired he is becoming. But his love for me goes on

very nice poem, Happy. my stepson (age 11) has a dog named "Happy" who is ill. took him to the vet today. doc said that he had a 50/50 chance of survival. the boy has aspergers syndrome (high functioning autism, for lack of a better explanation). aspie kids have very poor social skills (lack of sympathy, empathy, interaction with others, and understanding). the dog was given to him as an aid to help teach him. the child has improved greatly in his learning to care about others. there is concern that, should the dog die, the child may revert to an earlier mindset.
