CHANSON D'AMOUR

Song of love so sweetly sung,
dreams of love so deftly spun.

Thoughts of love that brings us tears,
sense of love that brings us fears.

Passion of love that causes emotion,
feel of love that tastes like a potion.

Trust of love that gives us joy,
blush of love that makes us coy.

Completeness of love that brings us together,
steadfastness of love that remains for ever and ever.

Could I have written such a poem when I was 12? I doubt it, but there were a few girls I would have liked to date back then, if only I had the courage.dance

It shows surprising maturity that a twelve-year-old can write poetically of love with such well rhymed couplets. A great title, I find it hard to believe that this now mature poetess could not now write her "Love songs" with quite some degree of passion.

Thank you for all your kind comments.

I feel it is so much more difficult to put pen to paper when you are my age and write about feelings and particularly love because you have lived those emotions, all the pain, tears and joy. When I was a girl the romantic love was fairytale, something one read about in books or watched on television or film.

I am in the process of writing three poems at the moment but am finding it so hard and I am very critical about what I have written so far.

Tell me real poets, do you have the same problems.
