MY SOUL'S SORROW

MY SOUL

My soul is weighed down in sorrow
For my loved one is not here for tomorrow
The days and nights blend together
In darkness the weight of a ton of feathers

Oh my soul cries a river of tears
And my heart quivers with fear
Of all the tomorrows to be alone
Facing the future and the unknown

O’ Lord please help me understand I pray
As to why my loved one was taken away
My soul wants to find peace from my sorrow
So that I may be able to face tomorrow

Please give me the strength to carry on
The courage to do what needs to be done
Please help me to accept your will
To know your Holy Spirit and to be filled

Open my eyes so that I might see
And feel your unconditional love for me
And that I might know when my journey is done
I will forever be in your arms and of Jesus - your Son

About this poem:
A friend and church member passed away this week at the age of 48 - an unexpected death. Very sad week. He leaves behind a wife, daughter and his mother and father.

Was notified Monday that a great-nephew of mine was killed on the job that morning at 11:30 a.m. It's ironic that I had written this before that happened. 2 young men within a week in the circle of my life. Very difficult week and my mood matches the poem to a "T".

Kathy, we all go through moments endeared by the lost of those we love. I share your sorrow. But remember in death there is life as in dark there is light.

Thanks for sharing.sad flower

Thank you Phyllis. I have been trying to remind myself all week that and praying that Sean is in our Father's Heavenly arms and no longer in pain. He was a recycle worker and was dumping a recycling bin in the back of the truck and a car crashed into him and the truck. He did not suffer - he was killed instantly. I have a vivid imagination and I keep getting this picture in my head of the instant he was killed. I know he is in the light now - it's my brother who I am worried about as it was his grandson. Thank you for caring.

I am sorry to hear of the death of two persons to whom you were very close. When such things happen, one asks WHY?
I know that you are very strong in your Christian faith, and it will give you the strength to cope and to come to terms with these experiences.
Best Regards!

I am so sorry for your loss, dear Godsprincess! Let me also extend my condolences to the innocent victims and their loved ones in Paris, and wish speedy recovery to those who were wounded. Wish you found the peace you are asking for in your prayers! Many thanks for sharing this wonderful poem!tip hat bouquet

Thank you Socrates. The saddest part of it were there ages. One was 48 yrs. old and the other 27 years old (my great nephew). They should have had several years ahead of them, but apparently it was in God's plan (Psalm 139) for their life. Yes it's very sad. But your right - my faith will help me through. Thank you for your caring comment.

Thank you Elle - I truly believe in God and pray that these 2 young men are with him in Heaven. It's the families that my heart goes out to.

Thank you Rob. Yes, strangely writing my poems does help. It's like the emotion swells up inside to hard that there has to be a release and then all of a sudden words start popping in my head and have to write it down before I explode! Sounds dramatic, but I'm not a dramatic person. I was brought up to be practical. However, emotions are not always practical.

I wrote this poem in Nov. 2015 due to a tragic loss in the family. Today I would like to bring forth this poem again to dedicate it to the families in western N.Y. who tragically lost 2 children in Letchworth Park, N.Y. and the families in Florida who also tragically lost their loved ones. May the Lord be with you and comfort you and give you peace.
