IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE

Yesterday is always gone
Tomorrow never never comes
All we have is today
So why wish it away

Yesterday is gone to never return
That day no longer holds any fear
What is done is done and cannot be changed
Nothing about it can ever be rearranged

Tomorrow is a vague shadowy day
No sense in worrying today away
About possibilities of dreadful events
No sense in wasting time in torment

Enjoy this moment for that is all we have
Live it in joy, peace and happiness
In a blink of an eye it could be gone
And tomorrow really will never come

If tomorrow never comes then what's the use of living today?! There is something wrong here, my dear, I think quite the opposite will be the case, the good and the kind will prevail, the Bible tells us so. Just cheer up, dearest poetess, and look forward to the future. Thank you for sharing and kindest regards!hug bouquet kiss

Marikia - what I am saying is that tomorrow is always tomorrow. Today is always today. We live in today - it is always today. Tomorrow is never really arrives as it is always tomorrow. Does that make sense? We never live in tomorrow. We are always living in today. So why worry about tomorrow. We can have hopes and plans, but you never know when God calls you home, so live for today and let tomorrow be tomorrow. This is getting to deep and profound for me. My mind is going in circles. Have a great day!!

I understand your point, godsprincess, but I prefer looking forward to tomorrow - maybe tomorrow will bring me something worth living for, while my todays are not even worth mentioning. "Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose." (Lyndon B. Johnson) Good luck to you both today and tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow!wine kiss bouquet

A quote:

"Yesterday is history"
"Tomorrow is a mystery"
"Today is a gift - That's why it is called the Present"

And technically we live in each second (moment of the day) so that each second is a present. Don't take each second for granted as we never know how many seconds we have left. "In the Blink of an Eye"!

Kathy well written about facts of life. Thanks for the read and the reminder that now is all we are certain of and tomorrow is under the mighty Power of our God to unfold.teddybear

beautifully written.
You are so completely right!!!
But then, why can it sometimes be so hard to do ?
Perhaps because we are but lowly human beings.

Lindsyjones - thanks! I was kind of melancholy when I wrote this as my step-great nephew had been killed while working on a recycle truck. He was dumping recycle into the back of the truck when a car came up behind him - never slowed down - and he was killed instantly - he never saw it coming.

So I got thinking about it and as I say - we only have the present - we never know when God will call us home. So live and love and enjoy the moment as it may be the only one we have here on earth. And for insurance - we should all be right with our Lord and Savior - because I want to go to Heaven to be with my loved ones - I don't know about everyone else! angel End of sermon! blah violin popcorn laugh

In reality Kathy, at least for me, this is a way of God's reaching out to us, to let us know that indeed, all that we are, is not within our control at all.

I can't begin to think how it would have been if, it is all up to us, human, imperfect and all flawed.

When my parents passed away, I felt like I am shortened out with love from God but in the end I realize, we do have a purpose that only Him can know and for us to find out.

Therefore, spend our short time on earth with positive and good energy and show gratefulness to Him that gave us this chance.

I love it so much Kathy, it reaches out to my personal level of asking, who am I as God wanted me to be.

Thank you again.teddybear teddybear bouquet bouquet

True Mady - we have peas for brains it seems at time compared to the rest of the Universe. There are so many mysteries out there of time, space and the beyond. Only God knows for sure and I'm excited to know that maybe one day I will find out.

Your right rusticbink - the Indians and early Christians were storytellers and shared their history by word of mouth to the next generation. Also, we should say we love you to our loved ones every time we say goodbye as you never know when it is the last time on this earth that we will see them.

Hi Kathy, a deep write from your pen. I know not the circumstances for this piece being written but it does hold such truth. Look to the moment for the next moment is a future that might never be. In my life i do not look forward. There is pain in the words. A well written piece of poetry Kathy. Hugs....Mike. XX

Thank you Mick. Yes - I wrote this in November after my great-nephew was struck and killed by a car while working on a recycle truck. He was at the back of the truck throwing stuff in from the recycle bin and a car in the same lane came up at full speed and hit him and the recycle truck. He had to be cremated - so you can imagine. The person who hit him has dementia. They had taken his license away from him 15 months earlier when he hit a man on a motorcycle and killed him. The driver was only fined $600 for my nephew. The District Attorney said that the incident did not fit the guidelines for vehicular homicide or involuntary man slaughter. But yet this man has killed 2 people. They didn't even order him to a Dementia/Alzheimer's unit in a nursing home under lock down. It has been a long hard struggle with this. Also wrote the poem "My Soul's Sorrow" after this happened. Still struggle to this day about it and so does my brother.

"Why wish it away" indeed my friend
Even though often i wish it to end
I often have to remind me myself and I
Tomorrow i may very well die.
Thanks i got the message and enjoyed the read.cheers teddybear
