Across the plains
I see a glimmering light
Beyond the horizon
where the day fades out the night
The grass is grown
from the roots of all my sins
Beneath the dirt
is where my salvation will begin
There stands a house
and its yellowing in mold
Beside a window
is where I sit alone
The walls are cold
and the bricks are falling out
So you could see inside
and I can let it out
Within these walls
is where I call my home
Id love to leave this place
but I have nowhere else to roam
If I had wings
I would uplift myself and soar
Up to the heavens ,
but this is the only hell I know

I than looked up
to the heavenly sky
but temptation burned my wings
before I learned to fly
Again I looked up
to a new sunny sky
but than my heart gets blistered
and my mouth tongue twisted and tied

This is how I often feel at times. You have such a way with words a gift....Throughout this poem nature surrounds guides and protects us even when we fall and make mistakes....at different times, I find the answers in just the subtle ways days turn to night .....that's what this poem gave me, it made me think how nature is apart of us through diverse circumstances and how it can also be the answer in changing and rebirth...keep the knowledge flowing Jesse thanks.....thumbs up conversing gift heart beating

Great write, Jesse-when I first saw the title I thought it was possibly about your cell phone, and maybe you were gonna find your lost phone by it's light(yes, I manage to go the long route some many times-lol).

I'm gonna have to come back & revisit(as I also plan to visit many more of yours and others just as soon as I can).

For now, though, I want to say these lines here:

'I than looked up
to the heavenly sky
but temptation burned my wings
before I learned to fly'

...some of those closest to me....they fit so well - and many more lines as well. Very touching - great write(gonna show this to at least one of them when I get the chance-b/c even though I haven't seen a resolution in this poem, I do see a struggle that is so relateable, as CherryReggae mentioned, in your way with words.

(And I hope you've found & will continue to find times of uplifting in your soul)

All the best,
Cat rose
