Dreaming

You had a dream, well King so did I
But dreams fly far, far away and we die.Your dream that one day..., that dream has gone, and we mourn while some murder us all the day long! Black on black violence, that too is a fact, but who made a promise to serve and protect? And we hoped but our own hands are stained with the blood, while a system that's crooked does naught for the good. Speak no more of fantasies fleeting and dreams, while the blood of my seed runs like rivers and streams!

When blacks decry police harassment, arrest, brutality and even murder some often mention black on black violence, in an attempt to distract from this issue. While it is true that BOBV is a problem in communities plagued by poverty and crime this does not justify crimes against blacks by police who took an oath! When blacks commit crimes they are arrested and put in jail as they should be. When police commit crimes against blacks they're suspended with pay while their own people investigate, and are subsequently cleared. How many of them go to jail? Very few if at all. Is it any wonder that they operate with impunity when dealing with minorities? There are no consequences!

Little known facts:
According to a study done by Washington post researchers;

1. Black men are 2.5 times more likely to be killed by police regardless of the community they live in.

2.Unarmed black men are 5 times more likely to be killed by police.

While the nation mourns for dead police officers who mourns for us? Could these senseless tragedies have been avoided?

Your poem was well written and held my interest to the end. That in its self is quite an accomplishment considering right now at this moment my mind was on a million things and then your words so elegantly arranged brought me into focus thumbs up

I care. Many others care. The world sees. We are crying. My heart cries for this world we live in today.

Hello Happy. Thank you for reading and for your comment. You're a brave soul and I know there are many just like you out there, voices almost drowned out by the roar of hate, fear and blame. Its easier to be silent but we must never be! We must make it known that every life matters! Be blessed!
