IN MEMORY OF MOM FOR MOTHER'S DAY

Time is a great healer they say
But I still think of you every day
Little things can trigger memories
Teasing my mind and sensories

Little yellow flowers and butterflies
Lily of the Valley comes to mind
The smell of apple pie with nutmeg
Baking in the oven fills my head

The love for your sisters and brothers
Your nieces, nephews, sons and daughter
The glue that held family together
Managing to make things feel better

Family took care of family was ingrained
No matter even if they were a pain
Your absence has left the circle broken
But God has kept us going as He has spoken

That one day we will all be together again
Forever bonded with Him we pray Amen!

BRINGING BACK FOR MOTHERS DAY MAY 14, 2017 - HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY IN HEAVEN MOM!

Not sure sensories is a word as it doesn't like the spelling but googled it and said it was a word - who knows. All I know is it rhymed.

In Memory of my Mom who passed away August 5, 2008 - wish I could have written it a little more eloquent - but my Mom was a practical person and she passed that on to me. I only started publishing my poems in the Newark Valley Moonlighter and on here after she passed away - she never really knew that impractical side of me or understood it as she lived through the Depression on a farm with 5 other siblings and 2 hard working and strict parents - her life was not easy. My parents divorced after 33 years of marriage. Her children and family came first and was very important to her - no time to be impractical.

I never knew how much I loved my mother till she passed away 21 years ago this September 17th. I mean i always knew i loved her but the need to tell her how much...is very hard to do when she is no longer here to hold.

This year especially, I feel so close to her in my heart I can only describe it as "Good Grief"

Lovely tribute to your mom and the LOVE shared within your family!

Your use of the term "sensories" is justified under "poetic licence" which is:
"the freedom that poets and other artists have to change facts, ignore grammar rules etc, because what they are making is poetry or art."

Thank you Socrates. I really never have thought of myself as an artist. I always wanted to be able to paint lovely pictures on canvas. Instead I can only strive to produce this lovely pictures in one's mind by words - not quite the same for the picture is there only for a fleeting moment where as on canvas it is there all the time to see. Thank you again.

Even though this poem has been around for a while, I thought it was a good one as Mother's Day is tomarrow. My mom just turned 78 on March 23 and she is caring for my nephew and his two kids. She also visits my dad in the nursing home almost every day as he cannot walk without falling, he's 81.

Beautifu...mum's are the most special people . It feels like there's no one there to keep the storms at bay when she passes away and we have to step into her shoes and become her in her place or try to ..thank you for sharing .
