WAKING LAND

Cloaked in thick mist, wait dawn
Sunshine heats, so land is born
Gradual clearing, visually behold
Defined valley, kiwi farming gold

Where water lies, heavy mist covers
Dispelled by sunshine, protective lover
Keeps mystique, romantically alive
In sleeping darkness, life thrives

Inlet of harbor, river-valley-runs
Waiting dawn, when rays of sun
Engulfed by dense, ghost-like-shroud
Keeps land safe, later stands proud

A secret land, where floating mist
Wispy shimmers, as rivers twist
Waiting sunshine, summers day
When land revealed, in nature's way

Since you are in the southern hemisphere, it must be summer there as it is winter here. When I think of where you live, I think of Lord of the Rings, as it was filmed there.

Yes...of course...... Lord of The Rings was filmed very close to where I live and yes, this weekend is our last long holiday weekend of summer.....doesn't mean summer is over, just that all those holiday breaks for workers and schools that started at Christmas, now really have come to an end, and most have returned to work......It'll be March bbefore the weather cools, but winter in June/July/August....opposite to you in the northern hemisphere....have I got used to Christmas sunshine...NO, but do I miss the cold weather....have to say No to that...but I will never understand cooking a feast in the middle of the day......

Thank you Flame....it is a special place just like OZ, though where you live I would find so hot....but beautiful too.
I had some ancestors who settled there....but never stopped in OZ for long, usually passing through between Heathrow and New Zealand........Kathy
