~ Standing in the Mud ~

~ Standing in the Mud ~
Most of my life has been following the leader
Wasn’t blessed with the silver spoon
Hand-me-downs has been a way of life!
They were good enough for your brother, why not you!
So they have an extra patch or two ~
Roll-a-skates with worn out wheels, bicycles with
No fenders or wheels with missing spokes
$25 ~ $35 dollar used cars with windows that were broke
The battery didn’t work, you had to push it to start,
It was the gasoline’s station’s joke
College guys were classified not subject to the draft.
So your friends & neighbors picked you
You quick stepped during the Korean War
Hut two, three four, your platoon was the best, it was better then the rest ~
Your Mother wore Army boots or so they said to make you mad! (It actually made me extra sad)
Dig that latrine, but don’t step in it at night, or you will stink and the enemy will smell you coming to fight ~
Bury that cigarette soldier, charge that muddy hill & hide or fight
When Army time was done, you had to work for a living, and it was still no fun ~
Your family didn’t own a business, you had to work
for the one that did
Tote that bar & pick up that bail, you got nothing to look forward too but to land in jail
Get married & have a family, let them get into the mud pie too!
Dam! I guess it’s what the poor workers do ~
Dig that grave in the mud, make one extra big for you
For that’s where you will end ~ It’s made especially deluxe for you!
Now you don’t have to stand in the mud, you can lie down when life is through ~

About this poem:
Just a murky day!
It's raining again, but I guess that's better then a mud bath ~
A bit under the weather!
Better days are coming! Lol
