Billions of believers claim there god is truth while all others spew lies I too was blinded by faith until reality thankfully uncovered my eyes Common sense says Father's wouldn't let "their children" suffer everyday that cockamamy "free will" card is apparently the only one you can play
My bad! "He has his reasons" is the other sickening response I always hear maybe every horrifying death is to remind us it's only him we need fear Humanity wants their to be a god with a heavenly place awaiting...I get it! don't outright dismiss that behind something so preposterous could be bullshit
It's insane that people just accept the outrageous stories man wrote in a book when you fell victim to fallacious promises of an unfounded god you got took Religion is reason for countless slaughtered throughout the history of mankind negating real life relations to put a mythical deity first defines a loco mind
The infallible said there is no other god mankind better put any faith in to deny me as your Lord and Savior would be an abominable sin If you dare view George Carlin's "Religion is Bullshit" on YouTube please besides laughing you may get why he and others feel religion is a disease

About this poem:
Who can say god is sure? Tweaked on 7/17/17 8/31/17
It's often good to speak ones mind At times there's a place called moments These moments, at times Can allow us to sand the edges off a projected thought.
I've been listening to Carlin since 92 when I saw him do his Jammin In New York. I also have his book on CD, Jesus Pass The Porkchops which has a funny bit on men and women. I like his Back In Town from 96 where he talks about why he doesn't vote. His 10 commandments bit is great too. "So I give you my two commandments, be faithful to the provider of thy nookie, and try really hard not to kill anybody, unless of course they pray to a different invisible god from the one you pray to, and they could provide one additional commandment, keep thy religion to thy self!"

Hi,
It's good to see honesty. Very refreshing.: wine:

in the eastern religions god is beyond our imagination, if there was a god for humans to figure out god it be like a duck trying to read and understand ur poem. be like being able to see and understand dark matter(astronomy) with only your senses. which god are u referring to? oops you cant even imagine it. just kidding, oh r u referring to the one they teach in sunday school, that teaching 2000 years old. most atheist understanding of god is the one they learned when they were a child and haven't moved beyond that (not that anything wrong with that - Seinfeld episode).
When men lack confidence to put their faith in anything greater than themselves, they put their faith in men, just as weak as themselves. How ironic, yet perfectly appropriate that 'George Carlin' would be the one man that you idolize over anyone else. .....
I love my God and enjoy miracles that speak of them self, its a satisfying good journey for me. Time is relentless, and some behold that, why? so much time for Him to come back and make IT right.
Such suffering?!
As generations pass through this, we see and now many understand such criminal atrocities, that Our God will certainly come back.
This small world was and not forgotten.
All times we must Care.
To not have Hope, is to close the door on being forgotten.
sophiasummer: Thank you for taking time to comment. I INDUBITABLY HAVE AS MUCH HOPE AS ANY!

My friend,
You are brave soul amongst so many believers. There are two quotes from Mark Twain which I think sums up religious belief..."A Christian is a person who wants to give up great things in a real life, for mediocre things in an imaginary one. More importantly they want you to do the same." And the same great man said of death..."I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions of years before I was born and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it."
It amazes me that people can blindly accept the teachings of people whose world view was 2000 years ago. Surely we have abetter overview than that.
Well it looks like you accomplished your goal of getting as many comments as you could despite the fact that this is not really a poem by any means in the true sense of the term. Hey, I've got a great idea...let me write something that will be sure to garner lots of comments, and even more controversy. I guess the Stars and Planets came into being on their own accord. I guess they all rotate in a perfect order because....well...they are just able to do that without any intelligence governing them. I guess that everything that you see and experience on a daily basis is just some random set of circumstances that just happen to occur at the very moment that you experience them. Yes....I guess just carbon and dust, the Sun, Moon, Earth, the Oceans, and all that live and exist in them, came from nowhere....including humans.....Yeah, there is no God. There is absolutely no way that there could be some intelligent source of everything that you see and experience. Those are the thought process of the ignorant that have no concept of faith and are full of fear....constantly looking for 'proof,' which is the exact opposite of faith. Sad that there are those so confused that they would be foolish enough to put a time on some type of timeline.
for those of you who do and for those of you who don't believe, this article is worthy of reading. It's a bit of a read but you will be enlightened even more.
Bentlee, no matter how we present proof, one who is blind and refuses to see will never see.
My simple questions to non believers? Where's the end of this sphere we call the universe, which contains millions of galaxies, upon which makes us a TINY speck?
Human made it all up, yet here we are, so insignificant and so incapable if even using 1 tenth of our brain?
Yeah. . No God? Give me a break.
Christian, well said. Simple yet very meaningful.

Lookn2share,
I think what you have said is worthwhile. Some say it is not poetry. Big deal, let them define poetry. You present an important message....the blind acceptance of religious faith. We've seen the results of that only recently. 22 dead...mainly young children. The better argument presented by Lindsay is the enigma of existence and the laws of the Universe. The truth is that the laws of physics are undeniable and we can trace the origins of the Universe and speculate on multiple universes but in the end we have to ask why? We can't answer that and many cultures have formed their own doctrines to explain it. But when push comes to shove it's all speculation. Perhaps if our civilization lasts long enough we might get closer to the truth.

ps - in the end it doesn't matter life goes on within you and without you - G.H.
pss - its human nature to want to be right, people kill over, it doesn't matter wat the subject matter is. theist or atheist.
surprizeme: It's NOT about ME. Thanks for commenting....
mcradloff: As always, good to hear your responses. Thank you again!
