A meandering dirt road Carved out long ago Enthuses my attention As I try my best to follow It breaks free of the rainforests grip Out into paddocks green Along a hilly ridge Where mountains can be seen Winding twisting and turning It makes its way along Then finds another forest Tall timbers standing strong Enchanted by change The colour and the shape I ponder on this beauty And the variety of landscape Deeper deeper I follow Searching for my goal Till glimpses of shimmering Reveal the lake and its soul A graveyard of trees From years gone by Whisper from the watery depths Why did we have to die I am stunned by the beauty I am saddened by the site But every where I turn Nature blooms with all its might..........
