Bearing your soul in this transparent poem about being overlooked Kathy and I enjoyed reading it very much so thank you for sharing it...I am sure many can or will relate to it
From experience I have found those who overlook , ignore others ...look straight through them or avoid eye contact etc may do so in a way to control a situation..or are often uncomfortable in their own skin ...sometimes ..their own insecurity..pain or ignorance :(

This is a perfect reflection of how everybody feels from time to time - you can see, dear poetess, how many have commented, cause they know what it means to feel alone, ignored, hopeless, helpless, but ... thanks to that BUT, which follows, we come up to the surface and carry on, no matter what. I like being invisible. I become invisible by looking away. Being alone can create a feeling of being not just invisible but of being abandoned I tbink . Sit with the silence and the self and learn to be at peace without others being present .as John Paul Sartre said "Hell is other people "I Bet the greatest pain you ever endured was because of other people . I know that my happiest times are when I am alone without people but feeling totally connected to the natural world around me . Look at the simplicity of all other creatures lives ,birds, bees even flowers and trees they all live by a cycle and us humans what have we got? Look at insects like ants busy just living working or birds nesting and learn from them to appreciate simplicity
. Wanting people in your life can be overcome by finding other things to make your life satisfying. cook yourself a lovely meal paint a picture walk in a forest or on a beach or sit on a sunny window and read a poem written hundreds of years ago in a time when life was simpler happier.. feeling alone not connected is simply a feeling that you can overcome . Often what you wish for most is what will make you not happy but even sadder lonelier than before . Getting old is about letting go really of the need to be connected . Maybe being an introvert helps me see the world differently.

Kathy, I love this piece. I sometimes feel the same, wish I could be invisible, spy around the world, float, travel fast and go places and pass through all barriers without one seeing me, then back to my old self. Wonderful write.

Thank you JoyCrest - I speak softly a lot - brought up that way and sometimes I get over talked at meetings and feel like a little kid when I have to raise my hand and sometimes that doesn't even work. Oh well...
