You were a stranger, a lady of the street who came to church one day You opened the door and before you entered the smell of urine filled the room and It took my breath away
I was singing in the corner as I watched you take a chair Then many others entered and it was visible to see that they smelt you, moved across the room as to sit beside you they obviously could not bear
I felt the nudge to sit with you, to greet you offer care . I quietly made my way over as we entered into prayer and God completely took away the stench as soon I sat there !
You never spoke a word to me and I didn't ask your name but as I sat quietly beside you I really felt your pain
When the service ended you waited patiently to eat, then when others left I fetched a bowl of water to soak your bleeding feet
The time then came when I had to say goodbye and as I gently touched your hand you looked straight into my eyes.... then much to my great surprise You drew in close, kissed me on my cheek ..and right there, right then, I came to realise That you were a Angel in disguise

About this poem:
This poem is written to share a experience I had and a woman I met many years ago whom I believe came to both teach and bless us all ....I have never forgotten her ... she touched my heart.
They come in all shapes and forms. God tests our faith in many ways and this was a test. We should practice what we preach - me included. Thanks for the reminder.

Thank you Kathy and you are so right...I wanted to take her home with me but she went her own way and I was so very grateful to have a roof over my head and take a shower that night
