Goodbye to Aida

You lost a bosom friend today and
Maybe she was mate from childhood.
Or maybe not, but surely
Many bits of life were shared, maybe compared.
But she has been called. And bravely answered.

I feel your pain today. Your sadness and your sorrow.
I wish I could relieve it, if not today, tomorrow.
For she's turned the full circle and now at rest,
Cradling her loving mother she recently lost.
Now found again, her love returned.

She's seeing you distressed, but cries for you
To see her happiness not sadness, for yes,
she left this sorrow of a world. And her pain.
But she's telling you, nothing really happens in vain.

Just pray for me, she's asking. And thank God
for all the time we spent together. Happy. Sad.
Sharing. Testing. Maybe even sometimes mad.
Goodbye dear friend, you left. I leave you.
but your memory lingers with me, with my every breath.
