MEET AND GREET

Apprehensive are some, yet excited too
Children eager to start, they wait on cue
Always a buzz, of chatter and laughter
Wary of outcome, like needing a partner

Dancing classes for children, adults too
Last minute change of minds, effect a few
Rarely girls, but boys seemed to hover
And many adults, will suddenly 'not bother'

Yet making an entrance, into a large hall
Even harder when empty, than noisy-and-full
Is the worry of adults, not children who rush
Soaking up the instruction, not making a fuss

Although some stumble, with two left feet
If they make second class, it'll be a treat
Though some very slowly, become hooked
By the time a new class starts, they're booked

A place to meet others, much more than a club
Exercise for adults, different from a gym or pub
Girls and ladies, dress as if a special date
Men and boy should arrive tidy, and never late

With many dance styles, both old and new
Plenty of options, though male and boy shortage true
Music the special factor, bringing smiles to the face
For those starting the process, you'll need time and place

About this poem:
the thousands I have taught to dance over the years, the ordeal of the first time, certainly gives you something to remember.....and not all good memories...LOL...but much easier for children .....
