CHANGING CIRCLE.

Around the lake edge, a circle to walk
Some with a friend, laugh and talk
Others like solitude, adsorbing the scene
Lake sparkling blue, surrounded by green

Little rest areas, signposted to assist
Those taking a break, some will resist
Refreshing bodies, taking in the view
Smiling at strangers, acknowledged on cue

A track not a footpath, allows all to walk
Or cycle if careful, where high above a hawk
Swoops-floats, enjoys being alive and free
Above a nature reserve, dotted by trees

Boats skim water, hired for a short time
Whether fishing or sailing, on a day so fine
Families or solo can relax, recharge in fresh air
Sharing nature's beauty, with other who care.

A gift not packaged, by shiny baubles- bows
Just nature's flowers, seasonal wind will sow
Rubbish bins-warnings, remind not to leave
Making others waste time, when collect-retrieve......

I spent many summers up north on vacation fishing. I have had my fill of that, now I go out golfing and go to different areas of the United States, though my last long trip was way back in 2011 out to Washington D.C.frog

mcradloff…….I know the USA has some beautiful areas, and unlike NZ is vast so when I visit I won't be seeing all the country has to offer, but hopefully some highlights.....thanks for the comment....really appreciated. Kathy wave

Kathy - beautiful lake poem. My grandparents owned a small cottage back in the 50's - 70's on Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes region. I loved to go there and listen to the waves lapping against the shore and listen to the gulls in the daytime and the night time ho bug singing in the summertime. I miss those times. Thanks for transporting me back to happier times during my childhood.

You remind me of my Saturday's walks. We have a church group that jogs and walks together on Saturdays. One day me and my buddy got lost on a trial and to get out of the woods we just followed the lake. Beautiful scenery. We took pictures of the lake with its reflecting water view. Nature is just beautiful ….no words can ever take over the personal experience you have of feeling it yourself. Thanks for sharing your poem which made me remember this experience. SM teddybear

U.S. Kathy.....I glad I could transport you back to special times......Lakes I never associate with the UK......never made the Lake District before I went to NZ to live as a newly married, so my lakes are NZ, but looking forward to viewing places in the USA....just hope I have time to explore...…
