There is a state between happiness and sadness That is a basic human emotion It provides a relief from life's stresses And stimulates a mode of deep reflection
To be happy all the time come what may Is nothing other than a fallacy So live your life as it unfolds each day Be honest to yourself most sincerely
Face the good and bad with equanimity Coping with the bad times may be tougher Know that all things will pass eventually And subsequently you will be stronger

About this poem:
“If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same”
(Extract from Rudyard Kipling's poem “If”)
equanimity - a calm state of mind and attitude to life (Collins dictionary)
Very good reflection and advice Socrates. As for me being a Susie Sunshine 24/7/365 would be very trying at the least! And I'm sincere about that. No one can be that chipper all the time or grumpy/sad all the time. The state in between is more the norm. Thanks for sharing.

Love this poem socrates44 thanks for posting it. I can honestly say the difficult times in my life although hard at the time eventually led me on to great new beginning and enabled me to empathise with and support others. Peace be with you
