Thankyou kathy just trying my hand again, but can remember when I used to go to open microphone nights, usually in a pub, but well organized, we each had a turn at reading our own poems.

My brother and his wife have a Coffee and Art Bar as she is an artist. Every Thursday night they have an "Open Mike Night" from 6-8 p.m. But no poetry. Bummer. Being a sister-in-law I kind of took it personally.

Persuade good fun nights for poetry. I used to go into Newcastle as the students had those nights and they were excellent nights , fun and learning

We have some open mic nights here, as yet I haven't had the courage to read my poems out loud, but it would be a lot of fun to do it!

Macradlof we had some students from acting college for full afternoon teaching us how to use Mike and portray ourselves. Yes I was nervous but friends from poetry group there to encourage.

I would like to persuade but seeing she is fairly new as my sister-in-law (only 4 years in June) as my brother remarried after his first wife died. He is 16 1/2 years younger then the new wife which makes her 10 years younger then me - so bit of a touchy situation. I'm pretty much ignored. Sad for me as I have been close to my 2 brothers.
