The day our Lord was slain and hung on a cross
A little grayish brown bird flying seemed to be lost
He flew and flew around Jesus head
Appearing to know of our Lord’s distress
What could he do to help relieve Jesus’ pain
He was just little but wanted to help just the same
He noticed a thorn sticking into his head
The blood was flowing down from it crimson red
He fluttered around Jesus’s head trying to pull
That thorn from his head to stop the blood flow
He beat his wings and worked very hard
To attempt to pull out that very sharp shard
He finally worked it loose and dropped it to the ground
Giving Him some relief from the painful thorny crown
From helping Jesus his breast was crimson red
From His blood dripping down from His head
From that day forth the little bird’s breast
Was stained permanently crimson red
For God blessed him for helping that day
The Red Breasted Robin became his name

Sometimes, it's the little things and little ones that make all the difference. Here's hoping that the lesson of doing the good that one can (no matter how small) be learned before our time runs out. Thank you for sharing the meaning found in your verse. May blessings of the season be upon you and everyone.
