THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHILD

Embedded image from another site

To walk into the outdoors with eyes of wonder
Seeing nothing but adventure around the corner
Something different to explore and see each day
To look at everything as fresh and new to play

Everything looks bigger – more beautiful and new
Never bored – always something exciting to do
Looking wide eyed at all the fun and beauty around
Pretending to be a Prince or Princess with a crown

Boys with swords and a new Dragon to slay
Girls with long jeweled skirts – different every day
Boys fishing with their hands and squealing with glee
While girls kissing frogs hoping for a Prince to see

If only as adults we could be as carefree
Always seeing something new – happy and free
To look at the world through the eyes of a child
And be able to enter each day with a happy smile

This reminds me of Disney World. When I went in 2004, I was too old to really see the wonder in it. Had I had a child with me, or went in 1976, it would have been so much more majical.sheep

Thanks Mc - your one up on me. Never been to Disney Land or Disney World - the Magic Kingdom. To children everything new is an adventure and magic!

Thank you Rustic. Wish everyone in the world could see things and accept the wonders of the world like children do.

Hi, godsprincess,
Just came back from an outdoor concert featuring The Love Dogs, among other artists; and, the weather was beautiful. It was an afternoon-to-early-evening concert so there were families with children there whose responses to the music and to being outside were delightful to witness. Your poem is delightful to read. Thanks for reminding us to To walk into the outdoors with eyes of wonder.... Such a gift.

Thank you Joy. I can just see the kids at the concert jumping up and down and dancing to the music. If there was an ice cream social with the concert (use to be in my hometown) - oh what a joyful treat that was. Thanks for commenting.

I know Kathy N.Z. - just love to watch kids' eyes get bigger and bigger with wonder at something that fascinates them! Thanks for stopping and reading.

Thank you Nu's Kathy (Didn't want to mix you up with the other down under Kathy), I too am a child at heart as you can tell by many of my poems. I have been a Fairy Tale dreamer (Princess/Prince type) since I was born. I think I have read every Princess fairy tale there is. There is something about pretend worlds that can transport you into wonder places away from the reality of the world we live in which seems to deteriorate more and more every day. Escaping into a dream world for brief spells helps keep my sanity on the straight and narrow.laugh So keep thinking and dreaming like a child - I am going to!! Take care. hug
