Rivers of Life.
Today I saw a photo, and was transported back
To a time so long ago, well past and a different track
I was a child, and the future was still waiting to unfurl
I was shy, and no doubt a confused little girl
Surrounded by cousins, who all seemed to know
Where their lives were heading, all eager to go
Yet as I stood, on wide open river plains
Life was simple, family, seasons and rain
I admit hot weather, never appealed to me
As I had no idea, where life would finally be
No longer living beside that famous river, I am
Day dreaming as then, because I still can
We never know what life, for us has in store
Though we dream, digging deep into our core
Travelling through life's ups and downs
Sometimes smiling, and with the odd frown
Our past is important, it makes us who we are
And usually when borders aren't closed, we travel far
We aim to be happy, and enjoy our journey true
Pausing at times to reflect, getting on with it on cue

At the beginning of May, I, too, was transported back To a time so long ago, well past and a different track. Your delightful poem skillfully reminds us Our past is important, it makes us who we are. Thank you for sharing.
