Life’s Journey

I have been alone too long
wanting, but not finding
someone to love.

Too many disappointments
litter my past.
Mirages that seemed like paradise,
but shimmered and crumpled
into the dust.

Other hopes that gleamed
like gold,
but turned out to be of the fool’s kind
when melted and refined.

Far better to travel on, with hope,
down the road of life,
than settle in the land
of compromise.

hament: i like stanza 3, but actually i disagree w S4. I think relationships must settle in compromise to last any time at all.

I see the 4th stanza a plus and a minus!
Compromise for a lot of things but some are not as smoking, if everything for me, would overide any possible factor of compromise.
It's just a poem!
