Twas the day before Halloween And all through the town Lots of creatures were stirring Even a kid dressed up as a triceratops All the decorations were hung from the backs of cars with care In hopes that trick or treaters would soon be there Then what to my wondering eyes should appear But a kid as a ninja and an adult as a skeleton More rapid than flying witches they came And I shouted and called them by name On goblins and ghouls and children too young for preschool On cops and nurses and princesses and cowboys And a girl from the movie Beetlejuice A cheerleader and a scary pumpkin warlock too And I screamed as they faded from sight Happy Halloween to all and to all a good night!

About this poem:
I went to main street in Platteville and wrote this as the trick or treaters were getting their candy. The Hulk, a goblin, and a cheerleader just went by.
