Summer Saturday nights in Sydney

emerging from lock-down
incessant bass - it's party time
of sorts and Christmas on the horizon

Now in the early summer days
the next-door children scream in the pool
and I find with dismay
aging arms have trouble
throwing large balls
back over high dividing walls

Late night as I said, now, and just
sirens and the bass
of nearby parties
is to be heard.
Well 11pm they've just stopped!

Now only the sigh of the wind.
