Hi, FargoFan, Half haiku? No, senryu, actually! For those of us who may not be familiar with it, there is a Master Class article on the form that has some helpful info, including a comparison with haiku:

I am quite familiar with both haiku and senryu. I have written and posted several of each on CS poet's corner, which you can view. I have stated the basic difference between them in “about this poem” of my senryu “AHA”:
"Senryu (A short Japanese style poem, similar to haiku in structure, however, senryu tend to be about human foibles while haiku tend to be about nature, and senryu are often cynical or darkly humorous and satiric while haiku are serious)"
My contention is the labelling of the senryu as HALF haiku. No such information is stated in the link you mentioned.
Haiku, Half Haiku, Senryu. Post what your hearts desire... we learn on the way... Seems you are both trying to force your view on each other. It is good to have a discussion. We have to be open that just maybe, there is a third choice out there-one that suits everyone. SM

@gnj4u yes you got the point precisely. Actually I didn't have a point, but someone here was raging based on wrong assumptions. So I replied, but not to make a point. Yet it resulted in some ongoing irritation it seems. That was surely not my intention and there was no controversy in what I said apart from what a triumvirate imagines.
Socrates, what I see is an endless discussion with no finish line. We are all adults here. The other choice Socrates is what every other person can understand, take in, assimilate, agree, disagree even if they do not comment.

how this senryu is half haiku
cannot read the title clear?
not bloody likely!
"Half haiku - senryu actually"
That clearly says that a senryu is the same as a half haiku.
The word "actually" confirms it.
This is the third time I am asking how a senryu is a half haiku.

no point in arguing
with ignorance at its best
bliss is state of mind
"labelling" should be "labeling"

Why do you say:
“you are both trying to force your view on each other”?
We are having a discussion.
You mention “a third choice”. Do you have one?
