Lost

I took a wrong turn some while ago
while tramping through the endless snow
dragged along, conscripted, then volunteered
an idea so strong, too weak, in contempt, and so feared.
“love is a one lane road” like some would say
keep moving and you’ll find it! Just walk down that way
now moving so not to just stop
walking just not to drop
down this well trodden trail
trapped behind a tainted black veil
so cursed, forgotten, alone, too late do I find
what I was looking for, I left behind
as cold flakes fall on my brittle white face
feels like I’m running in circles in an endless race
just laying down for a second or two
my bitter heart is now quite frozen true
as my cheeks are embraced by warm-cold frost
too late, too soon, finally found, so lost.

ok i think you're a throw back to the 17th century when men wrote of hearts and ladies fair, who took to notice the wise and rare. Well written Luke!
