Had You Told Me Yesterday

Had you told me yesterday
I would not be waiting on tomorrows tears
The silence of your precious heart
Is still ringing in my ears

Such a distant goodbye
As you drove down the road
The smoke from your old car
Has left a giant scar as it strangled my soul

Now a man of solid blue
Is what I'll always be
Had you told me yesterday
Now I'll always remember that's when you turned twenty three

Tractor broke down in the garden
Clothesline on the ground after a strong wind
Had you told me yesterday
I would never see you again

Longing memories bring us sad inspiration but that's life. Some good-byes are not predictable, Eyelook4u. A bitter-sweet poem here. Thanks for sharing. SMcomfort
