The Sadness...

Sadness...overcomes me like a blanket;
Not warm and fuzzy, but cold and dark.
When I think of the evils that grip the land
And cause Sin, and Disease, and Pain, and Death,
I feel hopelessly sad.

I try to fight the sadness with thoughts of good things,
But still...the sadness haunts me.
I try to examine the sadness, reasoning it out
To decipher why it wearies my soul,
But I could find not satisfactory answers.
I try to sing away the sadness with songs of joy and
Praise to my God, and for a while, IT goes away.
But then....

Sadness...creeps over me like a shadow,
All dark and gloomy, silent and heavy,
And I wonder "When will it all end?"
When will my God say "It is time",
And return to end the sadness that I feel?

I pray for you that Happiness overcome the sadness you become free of sadness. Ameer.
When you become sad

It's a very deep sentiment that's universal Didi.

We're all in it together. Just be strong and pray that it'll come to pass. Sadness is like joy, happiness and satisfaction. It's all fleeting. But it's temporary.

Thank you for your concern SM. You are right about sadness becoming 'depression', if left unchecked, but no need to worry. teddybear It is not the case with me (praise God).

I neglected to state near the poem's title that this was written in 2017/2018, so it's not a recent/current mood (even though the world's issues have gotten worse). Since then, I've adopted different strategies for dealing with that level of sadness, so I'm not in harms' way. wine

Sadness and gladness, I've had both, more of the first, but I do get my gladness from some things that make me sad in the end, like drinking mt dew and eating bad things, but still, I am thankful for the people who come along and take the sadness away, even for awhile.daydream drink pouring pizza super

I know just what you mean, Mc. It's good when someone comes along who brings you some 'gladness', if only for a while.smile hug
