In the beginning

As soon as you pray it echoes
only God consumes its meaning
in this tall room with high rafters
once built for reverence

There's a small bell in the corner
it is chiming in the morning draught
I imagine a spirit still resides here
in this once loved sanctuary

Weddings and funerals all passed
ceremonies for the masses
we watch the candles burn
sunlight through the panes

Salvation may be hidden
in the mysteries here, for all I know
I turn a page and read
"In the beginning.."

"We are Standing on Holy Ground and there are Angels all around." Song we sang in church last Sunday. God's house that He never deserts even though we may.

Thank you for sharing.

P.S. Our bodies are also considered a temple: "In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (ESV), he asks, “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
