If love..

If love might be deeper than the ocean.
Mine is dammed by fear, for all might drain away,
leaving me void and empty as a corpse.

If love could suffer confinement.
Mine would offer constant suggestions,
pressed down by iron will and stopper of death.

If love were as vast as the desert.
I'd fear for other's might dehydrate and die,
looking for a way through.

If love were young and without loss.
My affection could be untrained and exuberant,
happy to make it's presence known.

If love were brave and cautious.
I'd find faith in the goodness of other's,
so the gift of hope and love could be eternal.
