Outdoors

Outdoors~oh how it teases me, beckons me to go out and explore.
Thru the windows the wind caresses the leaves of the trees.
Birds sing softly to their nestlings, winged insects hum happily by the flowers.

The scents coming thru the windows are overwhelming.
Soft hints of freshly mowed lawn, the kiss of roses and lilacs in the air.
The sun is shining brightly, clouds scamper thru the sky, as if chasing the breeze blowing thru the grass.

I step out the door, smile of anticipation on my face, I breathe in deeply.
As the humidity assaults me, the nose starts running and the sweat is pouring.
I begin to think fondly of my air-conditioned home and turn to find I've locked the door.

Woe is me...stuck outside in the great outdoors.

Hi, amahlala,
Even though sometimes that which attracts us is not what is good for us, how sad it must be for those who suffer in the great outdoors. Enjoyed your poem. Thank you for sharing.
