And the Water Just Keeps On Coming

And the Water Just Keeps On Coming - April 1, 2010
Jim Magee - Poet of the "Common" Man
Dedicated to my Friends in Rhode Island (this is no April fool joke)

I've been "Stuck In Paradise" for just about a year
Rarely hearing news from home at all
But the news I got today was sad - in fact it brought a tear
It told of flooding over 4 feet high - in the local mall

The mall is close to where I lived - a quarter mile away
The most rain to fall in 200 near years
With locals losing everything they'ed work for all their lives
And the rain's not letting up - It's shifting gears

My lady sent me packing, and said she didn't want me back
And don't be wasting her time on the phone
She didn't need or want me, that's a plain and simple fact
I guess she'd rather spend her life alone

My words flow like wine most times, and never miss a beat
But this time tho, there's a different drummer drumming
Although I'm "Stuck In Paradise" - my life is getting sweet
But for the poor souls back at home - the Water Just keep on coming

XAT, CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?
