Like a stone, he fell from the sky Plummetting to the earth below Spiralling, uncontrollably The crash he could not slow
A bird with its feathers clipped, a bird that cannot sing Unable to soar with his friends All because of a broken wing!
He sits alone, with just his thoughts stirring into the wide blue yonder what had he done to deserve his fate He asked himself in wonder!
Was it something he had said or done he began to question why will my wings heal, given time Shall I once more be able to fly?
An older bird approached him Sympathy flowing from her eyes He looked at her and instantly knew Here was a bird that was wise
She took a seat beside him offering a friendly smile Do you mind she said, if I sit down here Talk to you for a while?
Your wing will heal, it will just take time Believe in what I say There are times you will fall, but have belief Tomorow is another day!
You need to rest, gather your strength for a flight that will be tedious and long To fly away with all the rest To a place where you will belong
She spread her wings around him Gathering him to her breast and the comfort that he felt from her Filled his heart with Zest
He knew what she said was meaningful and true He no longer sat in pain for he knew now, without a shadow of doubt He would fly again!

About this poem:
I was sitting beside my fathers grave and an injured bird sat close by, wanting to help him but unable to....but I like to think his wing was mended and he flew....I wrote this as sometimes we are like birds, our wings get broken and we have to learn to fly again.........I was visiting my dad for comfort and guidence, and the bird appeared....
