Nightmare on Elm street, er, no... Part I

This happened to Madalena, a sweet friend of mine living in South Africa, just a few days ago…:-

Madalena: Im off to Northen Cape to visit X___[her son], he works there. Two Saturdays ago something terrible happened. Z____[a friend of ours] and her boyfriend A_____ pick me up from work every Saturday and we go to different Portuguese restaurants for lunch and then we usually go this port coffee shop for coffee then they take me home and most of the time come up for coffee & to talk to R___[her other son & his girlfriend]. When they left we let them out I ran up the stairs & closed the curtains. The next thing we hear gunshots and R___[her son] looked out side and then was in a panic to go out, I couldn’t understand why I thought it must be someone fighting in the street> I then heard my landlady ____ screaming:-
" Get me the damn gun, stop it I’m going to shoot you!!”
I started screaming " stop it we're going to shoot" then I heard a succession (forgive my spelling but I don’t have spell check here) of 5 shots. Then I saw Z___[our lady friend by the gate & then I realized it was to do with them! I grabbed the keys & R___[her son & I ran down as we opened the gate the robbers[black thugs] were driving off in our friend’s A____’s 4x4 & then I saw him[ our friend A____] lying in a crumpled heap on the grass. For a moment I hesitated too scared at what I might see…

Me: message stopped here:- A___ then i saw him lying in a crumpled heap on the grass for a moment i hesitated too scared at what i might see...
What next?
Madalena: He was groaning & we were around him, I asked where he was shot, I forgot that a person whose just been shot usually doesn’t know where they’ve been shot, and he said so, then R___, the Landlady asked where it hurts. There was a crowd around us by now, I asked some one to shine a cell-phone light so we could check, he said his leg was sore so I checked his inner thighs so that if he was shot there it was vital to stop the bleeding, it was clear there, R___, the Landlady saw the bullet hole in his chest and some one passed a towel & I put pressure but it wasn’t pumping out blood, & I thought:-
“Oh good its to the right, missed his heart, then I saw blood in the middle of his buttocks & my heart sank as I thought… his spine! Well the ambulance was taking too long[normal for South Africa, by the time police and ambulances get there, you’re looong dead…] so R___[her son fetched his car round the front and he and D---[his girlfriend]a took him to M____ hospital…
Me: and then?

ARGANTINA

Togather we are one
Stronger , no matter what
We'll play today
As if we've never played before
We'll do it our way
We'll rise the white & Blue
Scream as much as you can
Fightin' till the end of the last man
We'll do it right
Scorin' till the end of the night
We are the Heros of today's Destiny
We'll make it last in your own memory
We are the white & Blue
No Matter what you do
We'll do what we came to do

Prejudice

Prejudice is generated thoughts given strength by a folly of feelings and actions sometimes confirmed by differences, personal experiences, fear and ignorance. Historically our differences has divided us rather than united us, simply because we lack understanding and tolerance. Misconceptions has fueled it's existence into long standing through, class distinctions, self identification, likes and dislikes and material possessions. As much as we can admit, we are bound by heritage and tradition.
Prejudice can be good and bad, it gives us the latitude of choice but it should not give us the power to hate, to transport or take away freedoms from others that they can't control. Prejudice is primary based on differences and disallowed concessions to embrace change and unlikeness. We sometimes unknowingly project our prejudices on others by being so stern or steadfastly rooted in self-proclaimed truths that restricts us from considering other points of view or to embrace differences.
Prejudice impedes our ability to reach higher heights of social conscientiousness to cope with visual, intellectual or physical perceptions engulfed by perceived thoughts of how things should or should not be. We all can be enriched by learning from others and by shedding inward and outer conflict when we dedicate ourselves to being a bridge builder. Crusader's chart new paths and bring people together nurturing them into maturity not to abandon self-characterization or identification but to understand others or that which is different.

Wisdom

There was a time when I was old
But now I feel much younger
There was a time I thought I knew it all
Then I realised I know nothing

Oh how blind in your arrogance
You boldly stride through life
The more you think you know it all
The less you really know

It is said that wisdom comes with age
But sometimes age comes on its own

DARE

Drug and Alcohol Resistant Education
The police officer comes into the 6th grade classroom
He educates the children on the dangers of drugs and alcohol
A man serving time in jail for drunk driving gives his speech
This is what can happen to you if you drive drunk
You can lose your family to booze
You will get drunk every day and lose
You will lose your dignity
You will lose your health
You will lose your wealth
So I still wear the shirts 18 years later
A gift from the first cop who came to my classroom
Did it help the kids who are now approaching 30?
I am reading a book on how most charities are ineffective
How most waste the money that is given to them
Is DARE effective in curbing abuse of drugs and alcohol?
Or does it encourage some youths to start up these abuses?
It doesn't really seem to matter
If it feels good then do it
Regardless of the results

About this poem:
Just started reading a book on the ineffectiveness of most charities. As this is the time of year to give to charity, I found it very interesting on how the number of charities has grown since our founding with the pilgrims. They now number 1.4 million.

How To Treat Women

Don't yell at them
Don't hit them
Tell them you love them
Show them you love them
Don't control them
Don't get jealous
Don't look at them as sex objects
Listen to them
Talk to them
Tell them you appreciate them

About this poem:
Watched a documentary Domestic Violence. One of the more memorable quotes came from a little girl who said, "If my dad dies, I wouldn't cry." The theme seemed to be that there are a lot of guys out there that don't love themselves, because if they did there wouldn't be all this horrible crap done to women.

R Kelly

Who can we find to point at
And say Bad Man for doing that!
Michael Jackson did a good moonwalk
But his interview with Oprah made everyone talk
Bill Cosby sold some good pudding
Little did we know he gave women pills which wasn't a good thing
OJ was in The Naked Gun which made me laugh a lot
I didn't believe it when they said he stabbed and got caught
Now we have R Kelly with a song I Believe I Can Fly
Gayle King showed us he can also lie
So how many of my heroes fall into islands of blame?
Tearing down men seems to be the game

About this poem:
It seems with all the cell phones we have rammed up the bullying behavior of people. I read that suicidal thoughts are on the uprise in America. I do miss the innocence of the 70's and 80's when I grew up before all this bad news on my heroes came out. How long before they find something on Will Smith.

Canada day

It is another wonderful Canada Day
The Queen was in Ottawa today
The planes were flying high
and the children waved good bye
Saskatchewan and Montreal are playing football
action aggressive what a call
Anthony Cavillo is setting many records for a quartterback
The opposing team seems to be giving him so much slack
How can you win if you do not control the game
To win conquer prevail it is all the same
Other activities at the park
Entertainers making their mark
Children getting painted as a clown
This is better then a frown
How many more Canada days will there be
plenty more but just wait and see

The American Dream

Have you bought, the scheme?
That keeps you in debt, to the 1%
The house, the car.
I want, I want, I want it all!!!
But first I have to pay off, this college Tution course.
25,00.00 in the hole.
I must get a job, to pay it all off.
Sadly there is no job in my field,
This was not apart, of the deal.
They told me to get a education
I would be at the top.
Right now I have to find a job,
If it means, pushing a mop.
One credit card left, I've paid off 3
These interest rates, are killing me.
I wish I took some time to think
Things through.
The white picket fence, if only I knew.
The American Dream, I had to pursue.
A mortgage seemed, so unreal at the time.
That old French word
Mort- dead
Gage- pledge
Plagues, the mind
What was I thinking, IM not free.
In debt, I will forever be.
I bought the dream, red, white & blue
Education, house, car & other things to.
Yes I bought the dream!!!
but they sold me a lie
The American dream, comes with a stiff price.
So before you want a piece of the pie
Remember in debt we trust, is the truth
Behind the lies...
