The American Dream

Have you bought, the scheme?
That keeps you in debt, to the 1%
The house, the car.
I want, I want, I want it all!!!
But first I have to pay off, this college Tution course.
25,00.00 in the hole.
I must get a job, to pay it all off.
Sadly there is no job in my field,
This was not apart, of the deal.
They told me to get a education
I would be at the top.
Right now I have to find a job,
If it means, pushing a mop.
One credit card left, I've paid off 3
These interest rates, are killing me.
I wish I took some time to think
Things through.
The white picket fence, if only I knew.
The American Dream, I had to pursue.
A mortgage seemed, so unreal at the time.
That old French word
Mort- dead
Gage- pledge
Plagues, the mind
What was I thinking, IM not free.
In debt, I will forever be.
I bought the dream, red, white & blue
Education, house, car & other things to.
Yes I bought the dream!!!
but they sold me a lie
The American dream, comes with a stiff price.
So before you want a piece of the pie
Remember in debt we trust, is the truth
Behind the lies...

Veteran in waiting...

It is appreciated by most, if not all..
the flamboyant and sometimes contrived ...

"Thanks"

given to all of us that have worn the uniform.

The greatest reward you could give us -

Never again tolerate a Presidential administration
or a congress that responds to every wind
Change in the world with a threat of military intervention ;
or worse, actually committing our own sons and daughters
to "HELL" all the while claiming the future interventions
To be in our best interests.

America is, and gas been a universal war-monger...
the late President DD Eisenhower warned us if the
criminal elements found within the Industrial Military
Complex.

Remember...all enemies of the Constitution
Foreign and DOMESTIC...these are our enemies.

Forgive me for the obvious misappropriation ....

Wants and Needs

I try to write,
my thoughts,
my feelings;
the emotion that pulsate through me, the experience that come before me.

Somedays the sadness
Seems to just stay
Food becomes tasteless
Life now gloomy
Since you went away

The heart breaking truth
But our lust I don't regret
Life is full of mistakes
what is life if we don't learn?
what is life if we don't greed?
Not only for money,
but love,
trust,
even beliefs;
and for some of us,
just simple peace.

And so the world is built on our wants and need;
shelter,
food,
water,
clothing;
wanting riches and non-necessity

We sleep our heads on feathered pillows,
while others rest bitterly,
waiting for a better tomorrow.

Battle for Our Souls

Opportunities to ride the wave, the tsunami of a developing nations, paving the path of capitalist creation. An economic glut, profits and rising capitalization, corruption, dirty business; is this the communist or capitalist way? 'When in Rome, do as the Romans do', unfreeze, adapt or be wash to shore, like broken shells and forgotten bottles, unable to change, forever stuck, in a single moment, a forgotten photo, behind a frame . Poverty stricken, policies unenforceable, investors unwilling and the average income, is $1 dollar a day. the streets are filled with the homeless, beggars, hungry children, suffering citizens, living on minutes of the day. The world is changing, overcrowded as the population grows, finite resources infinite wants, we're using it all. The future unknown, but what have we learnt? Probably nothing, or to make a big bomb. But even the traditionalist, must bend to 'the invisible hand', for the forces of nature, only god can comprehend. Children of the dust and in death we return, shadows of the night, takes our soul and they burn. So isn't it ironic, that we started from a bang, populated the garden and developed a brain. As from savages to modern society, the serpent slithers on, patiently stalking, seeking its return. Influencing our judgment, persuading our sins, tapping our emotion, sucking us in. The battle we now fighting, some battles we can't win.

About this poem:
Afraid that I would have to change and adapt to the Vietnamese way of doing business, which means arrogance and pushy, flaunting my money and power , treating others rudely and demanding people to do things for me. Afraid I would lose my humanity.

Morgen's Defense (attorney#1)

I was told
Of the trial of Morgen from Singapore
A lovelorn soul
Who thought that his worth was
As valuable as fool's gold
I endeavor here and now
Before the tribunal
To make an earnest and heartfelt
Rebuttal.
A man that has a dry sense of humor
Yet a friend and a hero to the letter
Knowledgeable about the dark and the light
A man who's only error is not to know when he is actually right.
Why should he be called here thus
In so sharp a manner
When all he's guilty of
Is the need for love
To be sure 'tis a need we all have
Instilled in us by the one above...
Foul I cry on this tribunal to mock a man's
Pained heart
What!!! Contempt of court you say?
Ha! So what if the maidens flock to his side?
You only wish you'd thought of that before....!
Against such there is no law
And here and now I declare that Morgen of Singapore is free,
Free from the demons that did haunt his mind, Free because he's got Friends
Of every kind
And love that surrounds him on every side
Such as this tribunal would never decide
This man's destiny
For it is still being woven...
Just wait and see.

Serenity

When the school bell rang,
she purposely missed the bus;
avoided all the hoopla,
the noise,
the obnoxious,
the bullies,
the sound of cuss.

While they sat around
pretending to be cool,
she ran her heart out
ran away from the fools.

They all seemed to blend;
blend into the night;
the next day...
it would start all over
as she cowered in fright.

They were the bullies
the power of numbers,
the rats creeping
under the bus seats.

She would close her eyes,
lift her feet,
pretending to blend...
became an overwhelming feat.

So she learned to run.
She ran and ran and ran
day after day...
all the way home
as the screaming bus
passed away.

Serenity.

danger

Danger
Rides are road
Cars beeping sirens
Those dredfull blues and twos racing to where ever they go
Unable to hear

These dangers Unable to hear the trafic on are fast mobile cells
Horns beeping cycles weave dangerously in and out weaving through are
Jam packed roads
All going in the same directing but no where fast
Beeping their horns to acknoledge they are there

not going any where
Smog fuel smells are road
Coats are throats leaves a lingering taste
Exhaust fumes every where dirt on road hidden in
Trees dirt
is every where

Nightmare on Elm street, er, no... Part II

Madalena: One bullet grazed his arm one went thru his chest side ways and out thru the side of his chest & thru his arm. P___[my name…] Im going to board soon so might not finish now…

Me: ok, love you please let me know, I'M GLAD YOU'RE OK, MY LOVE TO Z___, OK?
I'M SO SORRY IT HAPPENED TO YOU GUYS, I STILL THINK OF COMING BACK THEN I HEAR STORIES LIKE THESE, AY...
So many times you spoke of being so safe at your place, I love you little elf, please be careful and finish the story when you can don’t stress, ok?

Madalena: One went thru his buttocks, thru his small bowel & thru his anus. Another thru his buttocks and out thru his scrotum, the other thru his thigh and fractured his bone, he is so lucky the bullets were small, he had to have an emergency operation to repair his bowel and anus, he is doing so well, they had to put a temporary colostomy bag. He is now in S___ hospital for his leg.
I still feel safe inside the complex but outside is a big problem, because there are so many people up and down & you don’t know if they’re good or bad…
We are all traumatised, T___[the Landlord felt guilty because of his stroke he couldn’t run downstairs to help, R___[the Landlady said she saw them holding him down and shooting at close range, I___[a tenant] that lives downstairs thought the shooting was in the complex, made her kids lie flat and crawled to the door to lock it & get the keys out. She drove took Z___[the victim’s girlfriend & I to the hospital, D___ going at the back of the car with A___[the victim] not knowing if he was going to die
4:40pm
About to take off, adios for now…
Me: Farewell my sweet…

Nightmare on Elm street, er, no... Part I

This happened to Madalena, a sweet friend of mine living in South Africa, just a few days ago…:-

Madalena: Im off to Northen Cape to visit X___[her son], he works there. Two Saturdays ago something terrible happened. Z____[a friend of ours] and her boyfriend A_____ pick me up from work every Saturday and we go to different Portuguese restaurants for lunch and then we usually go this port coffee shop for coffee then they take me home and most of the time come up for coffee & to talk to R___[her other son & his girlfriend]. When they left we let them out I ran up the stairs & closed the curtains. The next thing we hear gunshots and R___[her son] looked out side and then was in a panic to go out, I couldn’t understand why I thought it must be someone fighting in the street> I then heard my landlady ____ screaming:-
" Get me the damn gun, stop it I’m going to shoot you!!”
I started screaming " stop it we're going to shoot" then I heard a succession (forgive my spelling but I don’t have spell check here) of 5 shots. Then I saw Z___[our lady friend by the gate & then I realized it was to do with them! I grabbed the keys & R___[her son & I ran down as we opened the gate the robbers[black thugs] were driving off in our friend’s A____’s 4x4 & then I saw him[ our friend A____] lying in a crumpled heap on the grass. For a moment I hesitated too scared at what I might see…

Me: message stopped here:- A___ then i saw him lying in a crumpled heap on the grass for a moment i hesitated too scared at what i might see...
What next?
Madalena: He was groaning & we were around him, I asked where he was shot, I forgot that a person whose just been shot usually doesn’t know where they’ve been shot, and he said so, then R___, the Landlady asked where it hurts. There was a crowd around us by now, I asked some one to shine a cell-phone light so we could check, he said his leg was sore so I checked his inner thighs so that if he was shot there it was vital to stop the bleeding, it was clear there, R___, the Landlady saw the bullet hole in his chest and some one passed a towel & I put pressure but it wasn’t pumping out blood, & I thought:-
“Oh good its to the right, missed his heart, then I saw blood in the middle of his buttocks & my heart sank as I thought… his spine! Well the ambulance was taking too long[normal for South Africa, by the time police and ambulances get there, you’re looong dead…] so R___[her son fetched his car round the front and he and D---[his girlfriend]a took him to M____ hospital…
Me: and then?

a chill in the air

A citizen of our land, I am awakened this Monday morn amidst the tumult that is Republican. Tears fall from my eyes as my gaze is held hostage to witness the hastily dug graves of America where rain has turned the field to mud and the wooden markers are tipping over. One wonders how any citizen might support the deliberate actions of so dangerous an ill wind whose aim can only be to achieve subversion, obstruction, disruption, and destruction of our nation. To suspend democracy, erase freedom and rights, and the environment be damned, so that the elite few may make yet more money? Only they who apparently harbor zero thought of regard for their brother or sister might embrace such anarchy on such a grand stage and scale. Do people have any concept of just how dangerous it is to entertain the notion that the few at the top of the money pile have even an inkling of concern for their fellow man? Do you think that you will ever be invited to sit at the table with them? No, you won't. And even if you were, it would be in the role of stooge and would only last for as long as deemed necessary by the sharks so as they may enter the feeding tanks. Then you will be tossed into the maelstrom and before you know it, you too, will rest in the belly of the beast. I always felt that man was destined only to eventually become merely fish food. I just never thought that it could or would happen so quickly...
