Oceanzest

Toying with Pan

For I once was here
amongst the daffodils and streams
in a quiet afternoon dance
with you alone
silhouetted as we were
against the trees
in the majesty
of a dying season
and though we did toy with Pan
reeling in the wild spaces
and did you hear the flute my love?
or the lyre played softly?
along the river edge
within the rushes
over the marsh
and beyond
as it takes you
takes you on
to evening grace
in the verandahs
of my mind

THE MUSE: EDELWEISS – Poetic Pillars – Monads: The Harp - XXIX - The lair

THE MUSE: EDELWEISS – Vol. I
*** Part III: Poetic Pillars – Monads: The Harp ***
[ XXIX ]
*** The lair ***

“In the lair
Of the mole,
Few crumbs
Left from
Last feast; –
No one
To dare
Walk in
This maze; –

*** Root ***

All the worms
Of the earth,
Must have
Known of
Such beast,
- For in
Their scare,
Sink deep,
To the east; -

*** Root ***

But the mice
- Lead the way
Out of
These caves,
Just as
If each,
Though dead,
To the light
Still craves – ”

THE MUSE: EDELWEISS – Poetic Pillars – Monads: The Harp - XXVIII - The crows

THE MUSE: EDELWEISS – Vol. I
*** Part III: Poetic Pillars – Monads: The Harp ***
[ XXVIII ]
*** The crows ***

“Right here,
- In these
Cold lands
Of snow,
Dull steps
Led me
To watch
Old trees
I miss –

*** Root ***

Here, the crows
Catch dreams
Out of
Each noise:
Gray, brown
- Torn branch,
In a
Slant fall
Of nuts; -

*** Root ***

But they, –
- These dark,
Drab ghouls
Which seems
To grab
In their
Harsh claws
My thoughts,
Were gone – ”

THE MUSE: EDELWEISS – Poetic Pillars – Monads: The Harp - XXVII - Truce

THE MUSE: EDELWEISS – Vol. I
*** Part III: Poetic Pillars – Monads: The Harp ***
[ XXVII ]
*** Truce ***

“Snails come
To feast –
Right here,
In the green,
Deep world
Of the grass;
- Have some
Dew juice,
At least!.. –

*** Root ***

From the east,
So keen,
Comes near –
This shy,
Sweet lass;
- Tell me
A story,
I have
No worry; -

*** Root ***

This rock
- Ticks fast,
While in
The new heart
A spree
Pour out
- In sluice
Of thoughts,
A truce – ”

THE MUSE: EDELWEISS – Poetic Pillars – Monads: The Harp - XXVI - My eyes

THE MUSE: EDELWEISS – Vol. I
*** Part III: Poetic Pillars – Monads: The Harp ***
[ XXVI ]
*** My eyes ***

“My eyes
Have seen
This world:
In dark,
In light,
With cold,
With warmth,
When shades,
When clear; –

*** Root ***

My eyes
Though knew:
A joy,
A tear,
In strength,
- Or weak,
In times
Of youth,
- Or old;

*** Root ***

My eyes,
- Thus close
A while;
To taste
A bit
Of Life,
- For death
Is near
My grave – ”

THE MUSE: EDELWEISS – Poetic Pillars – Monads: The Harp - XXV - This branch

THE MUSE: EDELWEISS – Vol. I
*** Part III: Poetic Pillars – Monads: The Harp ***
[ XXV ]
*** This branch ***

“This tree
Has found
My song; –
Though hid,
Thy nest,
In each
Old branch; -
Bud folds
New leaves; –

*** Root ***

It looks
So stiff, –
As if
My sight
Has lost
- In thoughts;
But light
Keeps tight
Calm rays; –

*** Root ***

My eyes,
- Brown sparks
Of life,
Search deep:
Who lives,
Or dies?!
- This tree,
My branch,
Old leaves – ”

THE MUSE: EDELWEISS – Poetic Pillars – Monads: The Harp - XXIV - The more

THE MUSE: EDELWEISS – Vol. I
*** Part III: Poetic Pillars – Monads: The Harp ***
[ XXIV ]
*** The more ***

“The more
I climb
These cliffs
Of life,
The more
I find
All gifts
In strife
Of time; –

*** Root ***

The more
I see
My sins
And fall,
The more
- In loss,
Or wins,
A call
For Thee; –

*** Root ***

The more
- While weak,
Or strong,
I pray,
The more
I know
- If good
Or wrong,
My way – ”

THE MUSE: EDELWEISS – Poetic Pillars – Monads: The Harp - XXIII - A line in sand

THE MUSE: EDELWEISS – Vol. I
*** Part III: Poetic Pillars – Monads: The Harp ***
[ XXIII ]
*** A line in sand ***

“How is,
O, child,
To draw
A line
In sand?
For thine
- Such land,
While mine,
This quiz; –

*** Root ***

He smiled;
- Though none
But his,
The shore
I walk,
- A sigh
Long gone,
Thou one
Must talk; –

*** Root ***

Yet, raw,
Lime stones,
Sea choirs,
In waves,
They wash; –
Brown crabs
- Seems now
Back home
To rush – ”

THE MUSE: EDELWEISS – Poetic Pillars – Monads: The Harp - XXII - Just a leaf

THE MUSE: EDELWEISS – Vol. I
*** Part III: Poetic Pillars – Monads: The Harp ***
[ XXII ]
*** Just a leaf ***

“In fall,
Cold wind
Blows fast,
Then slow –
I call
A leaf;
- The trees
Look thinned,
And crawl; –

*** Root ***

Pale moon
- Thus glide
Through stones
With musk; –
My heart,
A leaf;
So soon,
To ask
- Of these; –

*** Root ***

But while
Owls came
To watch
Such bride
Of night
I miss,
- This leaf
Hath slept
In wept – ”

THE MUSE: EDELWEISS – Poetic Pillars – Monads: The Harp - XXI - Each new born

THE MUSE: EDELWEISS – Vol. I
*** Part III: Poetic Pillars – Monads: The Harp ***
[ XXI ]
*** Each new born ***

“Each
New born
Comes to life
In a cry,
- What is
To learn,
- What is
To teach?
Live or die; –

*** Root ***

Each
New born
Ask to know
What Love is; –
- One say
It’s war,
- One say
It’s peace,
- Hers or his; –

*** Root ***

Each
New born
Then must reach
- To a grave:
Where was
One’s joy,
- Where was
One’s grief?
Here is the speech – ”
