On a frosty Winter's evening,
In a haunting moonlight glare,
I remembered perished loved ones,
With a solemn silent prayer.
There the flickers of the firelight,
Cast live shadows on the gloom,
Like the ghosts of souls departed,
Came alive within the room.
I could sence parental spirits,
Place their marble hands in mine,
As they coaxed me from the armchair,
Up to waltz with them entwined.
Yet although their steps were silent,
And they spoke with soundless air,
Their warm aura was a blessing,
Of which I was unaware.
For their lives on earth weren't easy,
In those woeful days of yore,
Yet together lived contented,
Through the suffering they bore.
Hope and gratitude they gifted,
All my worries were benign,
As the two kind hearted spectres,
Soon returned to the divine.
With the dying of the embers,
Came our parting bittersweet,
As the fading of the shadows,
Were their spirits in retreat
They bestowed a saintly message,
Scribed in smoke upon the wall,
" Always pray for fallen angels,
And no harm shall you befall."
Now it's lonesome by the fireside,
On the floor.. a teardrop stain,
And I pray my kindred guardians,
Will return to dance again.

So many ladies share their faith
In God's eyes, all are beautiful
Reading God's word nurtures our praise
Souls inspired by the luminal
Gives us the power to express
Openly sorrow and success
Giving out to us his teachings
To touch other people's feelings
Soars are to be neatly combined
To be intertwined with all minds
Doesn't matter who's the yearly lined
Every lady can speak their thoughts
To embrace a togetherness
Exciting speech are sedulous
From truthful and faithful leaders
Helping grow all the believers
We embrace all the questionnaires
To bring out our personal shares
In the past or in the present
Prayers to be omnipresent
The Lord is everyone's portion
Each reunion brings a version
The best of every one's option
The Bible keeps us united
The Holy Heavenly Father
Our gracious unending potter
Enters minds to be in honor
Be all the Glory to Jesus

My days are long and my nights longer still
As I sit here watching this little pill
Will it remove the gloom I feel inside
Or will it just provide a chance to hide
When it wears off, am I back to square one
With an even greater gloom to take on
I have tried all the normal avenues
Yet I still continue feeling the blues
What is it that I really need to do
To rid this gloom and become myself true
Deep inside me, there's a fighting spirit
Saying to face this gloom and conquer it
Connecting with Nature provides an ease
Listening to the sound of a gentle breeze
While it's passing through the surrounding trees
Serenading them with the rustling leaves
I shall draw my strength from the divine source
In whose awareness I do not feel lost
I know I shall overcome finally
And once again my spirit shall be free

Loud Yuletide bells resound once more,
Do they toll of Joy, or a tear ?
A festive choir croon at my door,
"Merry Christmas and Peaceful New Year "
In some sad homes the lights are dim,
Senseless war has taken their cheer,
Our troubled world now mocks the hymn,
"Merry Christmas and Peaceful New Year ".
Many will scorn our saviours birth,
The faithless who utter a sneer,
And say "There won't be peace on earth,
Not at Christmas nor in the New Year ".
But ye of faith speak loud and deep !
Proclaim for world leaders to hear,
Hope can not die, and will not sleep,
At Christmas and through the New Year .
A wish for peace this poem it sends,
Good tidings to all, far and near,
I raise a mulled wine toast my friends,
"Merry Christmas and Happy New Year"

Love is a sweet old decade
passionfruit on the vine
flowers on a corner
made by grand design
Love it tastes like chocolate
French vanilla cream
a sparkling glass of vino
long days seem so serene
But love it has a season
and when its day is through
remember it for the good times
and look for love anew

I want to write a poem
But I'm not sure if I should
It's about the process of aging
And the effects which are not so good
Anyway, here I go and
No matter what you may think
The time will come when
Your health will not be in the pink
Your skin will start to sag
And wrinkles will appear
It's a natural process
One which you should not fear
Your body joints which once had
A lot of flexibility
Will begin to tighten up
And cause you pain and anxiety
Your ability to focus
And to multi-task
Will weaken as you age
And become a thing of the past
You may find yourself asking
Did I do that or not?
For your sake I hope
That does not happen a lot
Some folks reading this may say
Such things will not happen to me
In response I say to you as you age
Let us just wait and see

Once upon a time some poets would gather
And write poems of their choice
It was beautiful and lovely
It allowed each poet to have a voice
Comments made on those poems
Were lovely to read and digest
The comments inspired the poets
And gave them a feeling of being blessed
To all those poets I wish to say
It was great to have your work read
May your lives be blessed evermore
Thank you for what we have shared
And now, all you dearest poets
You can look back at those days
They were all so wonderful and happy
Oh yes, those were the days
La-la-la-da-da-da
La-la-la-da-da-da
Da-da-da-da, la-da-da-da-da

About this poem:
I posted my first piece here on CS Poetry Corner in June 2013. There was a great camaraderie among the poets then and the subsequent years. It was a wonderful feeling that inspired other poets and myself in our writing.
I have written this piece in honour of those days.
It was inspired and motivated by the song:
“Those Were The Days” by Mary Hopkins

Whipping the master rites
still lightning high
unabashed solo
red freedom sky
Tamed by a jaguar
down on the plain
westerly wallow
the fevers engrained
When all thoughts of mercy
in deep foreign soil
ran hard in the corners
the sword and the foil
Served up like soup
the neighbor's disdain
damn with the fallout
Lord let it rain

In the gentle whispers of twilight's embrace,
Where love's fervor finds its sacred place,
I long to serenade you, my cherished desire,
In verses that set my soul afire.
Like the sea's relentless dance with the shore,
Our love entwines, forevermore.
In your eyes, I find celestial realms,
Where passion ignites and the heart overwhelms.
Your lips, a tapestry of unspoken words,
Unveiling secrets that the universe affirms.
With each tender touch, a sonnet unfurls,
In the language of love, our souls are immersed.
Your laughter, a melody of joyous delight,
Resounding through the depths of the night.
With every smile, a thousand stars ignite,
Guiding me through love's celestial flight.
As the moon weaves its silvery threads,
Our love blooms in radiant shades and reds.
In your arms, I find solace and reprieve,
A sanctuary where our spirits believe.
Together, we wander through fields of dreams,
Where passion flourishes in nature's schemes.
In the fragrant embrace of blossoming flowers,
Our love unfurls with transcendent powers.
Like a river that finds its way to the sea,
Our souls merge in harmonious decree.
In the vast expanse of love's infinite hue,
I am bound to you, and you to me, too.
So let us dance to the rhythm of desire,
Igniting flames that never tire.
In the style of Neruda, our love shall sing,
A symphony of hearts, forever entwining.
