I have a problem with Hyphenated Americans whether it be African American, Chinese American or any other. Are we not all "AMERICANS" and as such pledge allegence to America and not be something else? Let's be proud of being an American and not water it down by claiming to be half American.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
Theodore Roosevelt 1907
As you say we are americans ....not Native,African or Irish American....but simply American
Favorite scapegoat for those who can't admit they hate change and won't realize they are bound by their prejudice upbringing
favorite scapegoat is correct (IMO) just like Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, etc.... I'd have to say that people on these forums, while rough at times, have not been as venemous towards President Obama as they were to the last one.

I'de have to disagree 100%.....Obama has had ten times more ridicule than Bush .....but it's brought out the true mentality of many Americans in the open
