because it shows the other person that you may be interested when you are not

I assume you mean rating pics? Or can you actually rate profiles on here?
I am more curious to know why you would do it?
I have that feature turned of on my profile and never rate others, wouldnt enter my head, if I like a profile and think I have something in common with the person I send a mail,if I dont, well I dont.

Trish I went to your profile and was going to rate your pics. It was turned off where women could not rate

A 1" x 1-1/2" pic is sometimes misleading...and does not indicate Other pertinent info about the member that IS contained in the Profile...

I tend to not rate people. I especially find the rating profile section hard to deal with. Yes, some people want their profile rated, but I don't. If someone individually wrote and said something, I would respond to that, but I'm just not into publicly rating anybody. I have my photo rating turned off.

Everyone is not aware of the rate a photo feature even while on a member's profile. Sometimes they miss seeing that link, especially new members. Also, after visiting a person's profile they may find that they are not within the age range specified by that person, and don't match to other criteria & rating a photo can imply an interest in that person.
A lot of views to others' profiles is in response to the other having viewed their profile first, which is the only reason they clicked on that member's profile. The viewer may decide they have no interest in that person, so no reason to vote on their photo.
